Going to put original SS wheels on my 70 SS and wonder why they used 14" wheels on these cars???? Planning on putting BFG TA radials on but very few size options in 14". Have most people switched to 15" on these? I like the look of Poly Glass White letter tires but plan on driving the car and prefer radial feel on the road. Any comments/opinions welcome.

Thanks

I just today came from the tire shop, had the poly's removed and installed a set of 14" radials. I can say it makes a world of difference in driving manners, I am no longer fighting the road. I would only recommend the poly's for show purposes only. I to have been looking for a set of 15" SS wheels, as there is a hole nother world of tire selection compared to the 14's. If you can find a set of 15's that may be the way to go for tire selection. For now I am extremly pleased with the 14" radials till I can locate a set of 15's

ThePartsPlace.com has a nice selection of 15" ss wheels, check out my car, they look and ride a lot better I feel, B.F. Goodrich T/A Radials is the only way to go, check out the website, bought 295/50/15 for my rears thru them

14" was THE standard on passenger cars in 1970, 15" was a performance modification, typically aftermarket (Cragar, for example).

You can get 15" replacements from wheel vintiques, and probably a few other vendors, that will give you some better tire options.
