Hey guys, I just made online reservations at the BW for CB10.
If ANY of you are AAA, AARP, or, a govt or military employ, the online rates are REAL good at this time.
Since I work for the USAF, I just got a $49.95/nite rate for 5 nites.
Rates for AAA, AARP are not quite as good, but they are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than calling the motel direct and making reservations!!!

AND, in case something happens that you can't go, you can ALWAYS cancel the reservation-------------but now is the time to make your reservations.

We are thinking about going this year (it will be our first time) and we have been looking at motel/hotel rooms. We will have our two sons with us, one 3 years old and one will be 12 years old on June 12. Are there any motel/hotels that most of the people with kids stay at? We are thinking they would have someone to hang out with after the show.

I took my oldest son to the ACES Mid-America Regional Show in Kansas City this past weekend. He had a great time and is already hitting me up about go to Chevellabration. He said we could go for his Birthday

Plenty of kids staying at the BW...decent pool and a few resturants within walking distance.
And a Kroger supermarket right across the street.

As Bill just mentioned (immediately above), there are ALWAYS kids around to play/hang out with. Chevellabration is TOTALLY a family event. PERIOD! The Best Western is more or less the center of activities, but, there are two motels that are back-to-back to the BS. All three have pools. There are other motels nearby, but if you can get a room at the BW, you WILL BE at the center of the activities. At night, after all the daytime activities are over at the park, or the country side cruise (one of the nights), or the drags (usually Thur night), the parking lots are buzzing with people hangin' out, children playing, groups in circles in their lawn chairs tellin' lies, talking cars or splashing in the pool and the BW is the center of it all.
Soooooooooooooo, bring your camera, chairs, ice chest and think of a bunch of lies to tell everyone! I've NEVER been involved with ANY car or hobby group like the Chevelle folks at CB! It's great! Last year, we had folks from as far as Hawaii and Ireland. :D

Thanks for all the information! I think we are going to take Tom's advice and make reservations now. I know the show is Friday and Saturday, but is there anything going on earlier in the week? We were thinking about driving down and checking out the Jack Daniel's Distillery. What time does the show wrap up on Saturday? Just wondering if we would need to keep a room for Saturday night.

Actually, the show starts Thursday morning around 10am when cars begin to arrive at the park.
And Saturday night is the big Cajun cookout in the BW hotel parking lot...big gathering and final good byes.

Most people stay Wednesday through Sunday. There is always something going on until the wee hours of the morning.

John,
I always leave the Okla City area EARLY Tue am (sometimes immediately after work Mon afternoon) and arrive at the motel LATE Tue. That gives me a good night's sleep so that I'm well rested Wed am. We went to the JD distillery 10yrs ago, and then again last year a group of us drove our Chevelles down to Lynchburg to JD. Its a VERY nice tour. Also, N'ville is a big tourist town, so there's plenty of side activities to do if you wish.
There are even some people who come in on Mon (Jim and Beth Potter immediately come to mind), then more on Tue (Von and Nancy and others), and by Wed pm, MOST people have arrived. So on Wed evening, the parking lots are really active with folks visiting, washing cars, telling lies and renewing old friendships.
Oh yes, and you DO want to be there Sat evening for the Cajun cookin'!

Also, there are frequently people who leave home the same day and hook up and caravan to CB.

Hey, that reminds me, anyone talked to Bob from Tyler lately?????

Well... crappola!!!!!

Moving it back a week would normally help, but this year the twins graduate Kindergarten... On what Day??? You Guessed it June 10th. (we actually talked the principal into moving it so it wouldn't conflict with CB as it was supposed to be the first week)

It seems like... well... this may have happened to me before????????

Looks Like I'll be road-tripping through the night Thursday for a Friday Morning Arrival. I guess two days with my favorite knuckleheads is better than nothing.
