Got some Moog rubber bushings for my front sway bar(1 1/8") and am wondering if correctly fitting. When I slip them over the bar, there is still approx. a 1/4" gap between the two pices of rubber. Almost as if they're too small. Will they compress after placing them in the brackets and torquing the bolts to 15 ft/lbs? Also, does it matter which way I slip them over the bar(gap facing rear of car or gap facing front of car)?

Thanks

Hey, didn't see this post my first time through this morning. I must be slipping.

The gap should face the front of the car. I don't know why, I just know those were my instructions from Hotchkis, I assume they are the same for rubber or poly.

I'm not sure about the gap, but tell me your swaybar size. I've got an extra Polygraphite you could have, as they sent me the wrong size the first time. No cost to me = no cost to you. I don't think you should have any gap with the rubber, but I just don't know for sure.

On my 1 1/4" front bar i had NO gap on my bushings. I have polygraphite but i couldn't imagine rubber to be any different.

Xtreme,
I did a search here and noticed some other guys (chevyjim) had problems with rubber bushings from Moog, TRW etc... that were supposed to fit swaybars over 1" in diameter. They seem too tall and thin plus I've got the gap between the rubber so I don't want them.

I'd certainly buy those from you if they fit the stock 1 1/8" bar and it is OK to mix polygraphite with rubber on the front suspension since my end links and all other bushings are stock rubber.

Wolf, I'll check the size they sent me to make sure they are 1-1/8". No need to buy them as they were free for me due to a mistake on the part of PST. I'll check the size after I get home & let you know. I have the polygraphite end links also, if the size is right I'll package them up.

Edit - Scott, they are 1-1/8". Email me your address and I'll be able to send them out on Wednesday. Can't do it tomorrow.

I initially had a problem with my front sway bar bushings from Moog, however I ordered a set for a 1977 Camaro Z/28 and they came and fit perfectly (no gap) on the 1979 Firebird Formula 1 1/4" sway bar that I have on my '72.
