Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if or how it would be possible to fix the horns for a 1970 chevelle? They've been tested on the batteries and they are not working. Would anyone know if there is any way they can be rebuilt so that they will work?

Mario,
Welcome to the Forum.

I too have been wondering about that same Question. I have 2 sets of OE 1970 horn of which only one works.

I did some research online and found one obscure search result that talked about a rebuild kit that was available for Corvette horns but not much else. I think this is it - http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductDetails/ProductDetails.aspx?pid={614c79b0-1351-4598-b17d-276b691e7437}&

I also found this site http://www.classiccarhorns.com so i suspect i can be done.

Maybe some of the other members have more information that they can supply.

Best of luck with your research.

Mario,
I had both of my 1970 horns rebuilt by Gary at the Horn Works. They look just like they did when brand new. The bandaid fixes you hear like spraying WD-40 into the horn only delay the horns not working at all. Not only that, it makes it that much more difficult to rebuild. There are rivets around the perimeter of the horn that must be carefully drilled out, mechanisms to be replaced and then the rivets must be reinstalled. I am guessing you could drill out the rivets yourself and then use screws to reassemble but you run a good risk of destroying your horns. Sometimes it is better to let someone with expertise do a job for you. Just my .02. Welcome to the forum.

Hi Mario!! Welcome.

I purchased reproduction horns for my 69 and I have found if I don't use them everyso often they quit working and I have to play with them to make them work again, usually by turning the adjustment screw. You might want to try the rebuild shop listed, you will probably have better luck.

Hi Mario,
first I'd like to say Welcome to TC.
I echo what Dave said.
I had Gary from the Horn Works rebuild a set of horns for my Chevelle. He did an awesome job, the cost was reasonable, and they look like new.
