Does anyone have pics of their over the frame fuel lines for the tank? With a return line.

These SS lines are very hard and I'm not 100% I have them routed in the right spot.

I got my new tank from rockauto and of course it was dented/scratched during shipping and of course it was on the bottom where you can see it not the top but the main problem is the neck was all but disconnected.. the solder was broke all the way around so I guess I have to find a local shop.. just sucks.

Thanks

I'm going to call them in the AM, the dent/scratch I guess you can blame on UPS but the resolder of the neck will cost money and take time so I will see what they say.

Someone emailed me great pics of a single supply line (thanks Delta) but I also have a 3/8 return line so any pics of both would be great. In his pics its very clear to see how/where they are screwed in but the dual lines seem different or maybe I don't have to worry about it up over the frame.. just use some good ole duct tape and call it a day

Hey Shane,
its not very difficult to lift the body up a few inches. That would be enough to snake the lines over the shock tower and secure them. I took my body off by myself. I'm just down here in Shippensburg, just south of Carlisle. If you need any help, just give my a ring. PM me for the info.

Great thanks guys... I was missing the one near the shock tower, I also need to figure out to mount both the lines... these SS lines are hard and I didn't want to mount them tight together in case they vibrate or rub but with a mechanical pump there shouldn't be much vibration.

On some of those pics I see brackets that attach to both lines and one point on the frame but I can't find those for 1/2 and 3/8 line.. just stock lines but I will get er done.

Thanks guys.

THe SS lines are a pain with the body on, I had to cut mine and make a union; using 1/2 line made it even more difficult...if I had to do it over again I wouldnt use SS as you cant really tweak it to fit. Ill try and find a pic.:beers:

Just use the rubber insulated clamps, they work just fine. one on the lip (facing vertical) on the shock tower piece, then follow it down. If you are using 1/2 line you may need to clearance the floorpan a tiny tiny bit;had to use rubber body mounts as the polys had the body sitting on the line, it was close.

I called Rockauto... they said that they / people that make them have no more in stock so they can't ship me another one.

I don't know if that is real our not.. they say I bought the last one and that was a week ago so not sure I believe that or not.

They said they would reimburse the shipping cost otherwise I have to return it of for a refund.

Thanks for the info.. I think I have rubber body mounts but I will try to bend them and keep them as low as possible. Yes I have the rubber insulators but all the holes are too small so I have to redrill all the brackets.

I just wondered about metal on metal but they should be pretty tuff as they sure are hard enuff to bend.

Yes the single line is straight forward to mount.. it's the 3/8 return line I'm strugglin with.

I called a local radiator repair shop... be about $25 to resolder the gas tank neck on so I guess I will just do that and live with the little dent/scratch still kinda sucks but oh well.

Thanks

Rob,

After first seeing the After pics of your frame and now seeing the Before pics, that's quite a job you did in making that frame, and the associated parts, look so beautiful. :beers:

(Cute dog too)!

Tell them fine to come get the damaged tank....They are made in Canada and I'm sure they could use the work....With you being so close to Carlisle, just go there this weekend and pick one up.....Good Luck

Hope this helps you out some. They are not very good pictures of fuel line close ups.

Lev8trmn,

What size lines do you have? In your first pic you have clips that holds both lines which is what I need.

Hmm yeah I hope the weather holds out.. you think they will have the good tanks at Carlisle? The only reason I got it from RockAuto was cause it was the Canada stuff.

I actually got some fuel clips from the local GM dealership. The part number is 1380949 CLIP ASM 8.950 I can't remember if they are the double line clips though.

3/8" Feed , 1/4" return and 5/16 Vapor are the factory sizes. I used my 5/16" line for my return and 1/4" for vapor because I have an EFI system. I kept them of the factory sides of the frame though.
