: Center link issues

Car is a 67 chevelle. Have rebuilt whole front suspension and am having issues with fitting the new centerlink.
The new center link cannot be mounted on the car as it seems the end studs are at an incorrect angle. This makes it so that when one stud is mounted on the pitman arm, the other stud has a ~2" gap between it and its hole in the idler arm. Also. the link hangs so low in the center that it hits the 'lip' extension on the crossmember, which it would normally sit above.

Heres a shot of the old link and the new one together off the car. Old one on top. You can see there is an angle difference between how the studs are.

I have put a straightedge between the faces of the two studs seal area for a reference. Top one (original) looks square:

New one seems to have a weird angle.:

The other (idler arm) end has the same issue.
Am I doing something wrong here ? This is a brand new center link. As you know the 64-67 cars require a link that is not produced by the major suspension parts manufacturers anymore. Only source is 'other' aftermarket companies.
I should also add that the steering box is a Grand Cherokee unit, its new also at this time. The Pitman arm is the original chevelle unit.
I cant use the old one as it has significant play in the pitman arm joint.

Thanks

Well, the best situation would be that you were given the wrong centerlink. Do you have anyone's 67 you can look at? That is where I would start first. The worst situation is that you have had frame damage and the centerlink was bent to match the damage to the frame. Also, possible that parts could have been mismatched over the years.

Here are a couple links from the Chevelle Tech section where a guy was having a fit issue on his 67, the may be helpful.

If you have a different local parts store I would take all your parts, idle arm, pitman, old and new centerlink to them to see if they match. NAPA carries a good brand of suspension parts, but you need to get their top of the line parts.

Hope this helps.

That original does not look damaged to me. I think you have an exceptionally poorly made new one.
