Hi, first I just want to say what an awesome site this is. You guys are great. Ok...on to my problem.

I got the driver side rear suspension apart, replaced the bushings (using polygraphite) on the up and lower control arms and the bell housing, but I am having trouble getting it back together.

I got the upper control arm on, but when I try to put the lower control arm on (I attached it to the frame first)I can't get it to line up with the axel. I tried jacking up the axel a little, but that just moves the arm further from the hole. I also tried attaching the axel end first but that didn't work either.

Am I doing it in the wrong order?? Should I loosen the other side so the axel will move more??

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks. graemlins/waving.gif

What's always worked for me is a using a come-along in conjunction with the jack (the floor type are easier to use in this case). Attach the come-along to a point on the axle near where the arm will connect while jacking it into place, and another point on the frame cate-corner from where you are working (ie, if mounting the R rear control arm, attach the come-along to the bushing hole on the left front corner of the frame. Manipulating the two should allow you to bring them into alignment

Perhaps the rearend rotated a bit. Did you try putting the jack further forward on the pinion and rotate it up?

I swapped out my rearend and was able to get everything hooked up just by muscling it around. It can be done.
