I rebuilt my whole front end about 1 yr ago with a polygraohite kit from pst after i broke a control arm. Lately i have been noticing more "chatter" when i turn sharp corners slow or into parking spaces. It has always done it if the road is wet but it seems to be doing it more even when the ground is dry. It feels like the tires are skippin and you can hear a "chattering noise".

The only thing i didnt replace when i did the rebuild was the sway bar/swaybar bushings and springs. It did this quite a bit before the control arm broke a year ago, then when i rebuilt the front end it didnt go away but it did it alot less. Everything else on the front end is new.

Is this common or could it be the stock sway bar? I do not want to break another control arm or replce any ball joints anytime soon. That crap was no fun

I check the upper control arm bushings. The bolt tends to loosen, and the poly bushings walk out.

And if 1 control arm broke, I would think the other one would be likely to break too (unless you replaced it).

The way I have found suspension problems is to drive one wheel up on a ramp/curb and then look around. Easier to see problem areas.

Also, feel your tires. If you feel uneven surface across the treads you could have broken belts (assuming radials). They chatter just like you describe.

Sway bar bushings are either bad and missing or not. If they are not missing because they crumbled away. I doubt that's it.

I replaced everything under there with just stock suspension parts, tie rods, ball joints, and both stock control arms. the sway bar bushings are the stock ones i didnt do anything to the sawy bar when i did the rebuild. I will check around later and see what i find...

If the stock swaybar bushings are worn out then the bar may be hitting the frame. You can buy just the replacement bushings for about $10 at Advanced. Also check the end links for missing bushings.

Do you have a posi unit in the car? When I read your description of skipping tires, and chattering when you turn sharp corners, I automatically think of posi chatter.. If you have replaced everything in the front end, and you can rule that out, I would next check to see if the sound is coming from the rear of the car.. If so, it is a classic case of posi chatter..

If posi chatter is the case, you may want to drain the rear end, and then refill with a quality gear oil along with a bottle of GM POSI Traction Lube.. This should cure your problem..

well i got up under it today and found that my sway bar bushings are shot. If i shake the sway bar really hard with my hands i can move it from side to side alittle so i am pretty sure this is my problem considering the car ways 3000+. Now since i am going to get new bushings i guess i might as well get a new sway bar too. Any suggestions on who to go with size etc?? I was thinking of going with P-S-T.com since they are the ones i got the rebuild kit from...
