I have a 64 chevelle SS and I am trying to put the stock saginaw power steering pump back on the car. The problem is the new heads (aluminum) and alternator setup are different in location than gthe stock setup. The location is close (driver's side, right off the valve cover) but the new alternator bracket (march) is not leaving enough room between it and the steering box. I have heard that a type II pump will fit tight to the block and will mount next to the water pump. I think that march and Zoops both sell a power steering setup that will work. Is the type iii smaller? Has anyone else dealt with this problem?
