Most probably already know of this tragedy involving one of our long time members. Short version: he came home from work earlier in the week to find that his wife had killed their two sons and herself. I can't even imaging trying to cope through something like that.

see this thread:

http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290925

Anyway, memorial services for the sons have been held. They were private.

Philip was also an active member of a couple Corvette clubs including the local Az Corvette Enthusiasts. They have organized a cruise/drive-by for Philip just to show support for a brother going through hell. They are welcoming anybody who wants to show up. Short notice, I know, but what to do?

Probably looking at 50 or more cars, mostly Vettes. Here's the meeting place:

"Sunday Sept. 27th @ 12 noon Departing @ 12:30
Gathering at Walmart off of the 60 and Stapley
1955 South Stapley Drive"

map to area:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1955+S...=UTF8&t=h&z=16

"Anybody from the northside wants to caravan down a group will be meeting at the Park and Ride lot located on Bell Rd just west of the 51. They will be meeting at 11:00 am."

I'll be there, family events permitting.

The local Corvette club he belonged to organized a sort of memorial cruise by his house this afternoon. I was there with my Chevelle, as was Tom Mobley and Philip Valentine from this site. Altogether I would guess there were about 50 or 60 cars that participated, mainly late model Corvettes, but at least we had 3 Chevelles :D At any rate, Phil Mullaly had all four of his vehicles (mid 60's Corvette, 70 Olds 442, mid 90's Impala SS and his Dodge Daytona pickup) parked on an angle along the curb in front of his house, and the parade of cars cruised slowly by, made a U-turn at the next intersection, and went back by. There were several people taking video of the entire procession, which will undoubtedly be posted online soon (if it isn't already!). Hopefully he got a smile out of the whole event :hurray:

he did get a smile out of it, I saw him. I think the neighbors were a little taken aback by the whole deal. I counted 62 cars and a few more Vettes rolled in late.

When I drove by the neighbors were pointing at the El Camino. I am sure they recognized it since he drove it for 6 years.
Here is a photo of the Team Chevelle representation. It was a long trip for me, over 250 miles, but worth it to show that his Team family were there to show their support.

To bad we were blocking Bill's 69, that car is awesome.

that black convertible, what a killer car. 23,000 miles, clean as a whistle. nicest original Chevelle I've seen in many years. black lacquer paint still on the car. nothing like that original GM lacquer.

pics up over the Az Corvette forum.

I gotta say I was really impressed with those guys. short notice, great turnout, got a live TV interview, no issues with any jerks hotrodding, no arrogance, no snobs, perfect. These guys are pretty classy.

Think we could turnout 50 or 60 CHevelles on 3 days notice? Nope.

Anyway, here's the pics, prolly video later.

It was great to meet Tom at last and see Philip again after many years! And take note....It was 107 degrees in Phx yesterday (broke a record) and I'm the one driving a convertible with the top down :clonk::wacko:

Just a unbelievable story. Hopefully the drive bye picked up his spirts some. (pretty nice of you guys) One thing I could never figure out- Why do people that want to end there lives in this fashion seem to feel they have to take loved ones with them???

The shrinks say that, in some sort of bizarre thought process (that us relatively 'normal' people have difficulty understanding  ), they feel that they are 'protecting' the others by killing them

Bill I would have to agree with this. IMO she thought the boys and her would all be together. Unfortunately for her were she went is not the same place.

If she was out to intentionally hurt Philip the cars would have been destroyed.
