: 2 door post
racecat Sep 26th, 09, 11:34 AM My Brother in law recently purchased a 65 chevelle , 2 door post car,the car has some sort of small block, but has 396 emblems on it .
I told him to my knowledge that there were no big block ,2 door post cars built. The car also has SS badging in all the correct places. I am not really up on vin numbers enough to know. My question is ,Did they build any such cars?
RyanNilcea05 Sep 26th, 09, 12:11 PM Hi Tom! Welcome! No post cars had the SS package available unfortunatly. The largest engine available on a non SS car was a (275 hp?) 327.
racecat Sep 26th, 09, 12:23 PM Thanks ,thats kind of what I thought. I never remember seeing one .
I am more of a ford man as I own a 66 shelby mustang and a 63 1/2 Galaxie that is kind of resto-moded,429 cj,rack and pinion,4 wheel disc,etc.
In the past I had a 66-ss396/375 , 4 speed bench seat car.I have kicked myself many times for selling that car and am on the lookout for another or a 66/67 nova ss. My wife says I have to get the galaxie done b/4 I start another project, but it don'thurt to look. Thanks again,,,Tom

The L79 350HP 327 was available in non SS cars.
It was in the engine checkoff list in the dealership order book when I ordered my (non SS) Malibu in November of 1964.
RyanNilcea05 Sep 26th, 09, 1:41 PM Cool! Thanks Verle!

It's a shame that it's not the original motor though.
