Here is my current setup
Arris cable modem plugged into linksys wired router that plugs into a 16 port hub via a crossover cable. I also have a belkin router/access point plugged into the hub. The access point is approx 50’ from the hub. This setup is approx 50’ from my main computer.
I’m constantly having(1-2X/day) reset the linksys router.

What I’d like to do is place this Belkin wireless G Plus router and place it where the current access point is. The model number is F5D7231-4. Do I use just straight cat5 patch cables or do I need a crossover cable or cables. I currently have two regular straight through cat5 cables run to the location I want to place the wireless router in. Reason for it being 50’ from the modem is it will be more centrally located and enable me to use a laptop in my garage. My plan is to run the cat5 cable from the modem to the wan port on the wireless router and then run the other cat5 cable from one of the ports on the wireless router to the 16 port hub. Will this work or do I need a crossover cable in there somewhere?

By using the new wireless router I’ll be eliminating the linksys wired router and the belkin router/access point(only capable of 54mbps).

I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with Belkin tech support but because of the accent of the tech I think we weren’t communicating well. What I’d like to do is have this all setup as I described and then try Belkin tech support again. I appeared we were able to get it set up yesterday but never could get it to connect to the internet. Yesterday I had it connected right next to the modem and had to make numerous trips up and down stairs unplugging and plugging things in as instructed by the tech. That was hard considering my recent hip surgery.

Any suggestions and help enabling me to get this thing up and running would be appreciated. TIA Pete

The wireless router, modem to router, should use a regular cable, not cross-over. The hub should have an uplink port, regular cable from router to hub.

Thanks!! I'll try again this weekend. This shouldn't be this hard. I hope I can get it to connect to the internet. Pete

Take the model numbers off your equipment. Your hub (is it really a hub, or is it a switch?). I have 5 ethernet switches in my home network. They are all the newer autosensing switches that don't care if you use a straight through cable or a crossover. You plug them together, and they autosense the polarity and automatically work. Yours might be the same.
Once you have the model numbers, Google them and learn the specs for the hub, modem, and router. Then you will be able to put it together correctly.
