: Rear control arm bushings
Robb71 Dec 18th, 04, 12:44 PM Looking for a cost effective compromise between poly and rubber I came across these bushings at HR parts-n-stuff www.hrpartsnstuff.com (http://www.hrpartsnstuff.com)
Look under chassis/suspension - poly bushings.
Has anyone used these? They claim no binding/squeaking yet stiff. Just emailed them for pricing.
sinned Dec 18th, 04, 2:06 PM Impossible to build rear control arms for any converging link system that do not have some degree of bind in them. Bind is built into the the design. You would have to relocate all the links mounts to eliminate from the system.
List of possible solutions in order of least amount of bind:
Johnny Joints at all pivot ends
Spherical bearings at pivots ends
rubber bushings
and worst of all poly bushings

I run SSM Bars for the lowers, they came W/poly and BMR adjustables for the uppers arms W/stock rubber bushings along W/cargo coil springs, gas shocks and a .75 sway bar.It digs pretty good off the line on street tires and corners great!
my 2 cents
Steve
EDIT:In the front Big Block Replacement coils, rubber bushings,77 TransAm sway bar,and poly end links.
Robb71 Dec 22nd, 04, 12:52 PM Is anyone using a combination of poly in one end of the control arms and rubber in the other end? Would this allow for enough flex yet be firm enough to prevent wheel-hop?
Herb Dec 22nd, 04, 12:54 PM Steve, what are SSM bars? Have a link?
TonawandaKid Dec 26th, 04, 11:43 AM South Side Machine lift/bars!(replacement for the lower control arms Rear) not sure you can buy these anymore, can't find them in jegs(for the A-Body)I remember there was a problem with there site/Business.South Side Machine Co.,P.O.Box 537,Smithville OH.44677 216-669-3556 or Louie Gilbert at 330-669-9725

notstock71 Dec 26th, 04, 1:35 PM So I made a rookie mistake and ordered the poly bushings for the back of the 67. Any tips or advice for these besides replacing again with rubber ones?

I,m running poly bushings in the arms (6) with rubber bushings (2) in the rear end ears, along with a rear sway bar.I was told that this was a good compromise for our type of suspension. The violent wheel hop I was experiencing is gone. :D

usmcanglico Dec 31st, 04, 6:57 PM I installed rubber in my lower controls and the upper with the exception the housing ears which came with new polys, so i left them in. I havn't drove the car yet, but the experts say that there should be no problems with having the mix match on the uppers.
