Anybody run IMCA suspension parts? Like 9" floater, Afco hubs w/ Wilwood or US Brake or Outlaw calipers?
I look at the price of brake upgrades from aftermarket vendors (mucho $$) and wonder why more people don't use these rather affordable "stock car" pieces. Is it a matter of not knowing they are available?

Steve, I've been looking into that same thing as of late, the problem is the parts are not designed for old "A" bodies and some fab work is required to get it to work. Most folks would rather pay for someone else to get it to work and pay for their kit. The HTH truck arm kit is a perfect example. You can buy it ready to go from HTH or build your own out of stock car peices(that is the suspension they all run) but you have to fab it all yourself.

The 9" floater "bolt in" comes to mind in particular. Several companies offer these with A-body and "Metric" brackets (BTW what's the differences in these two designs?)
Floater designs have several advantages over c-clip flange axles including axle retension if broken, pumpkin changes w/o wheel/brake removal, and axles around $100 each. Nice.
The Pole Position A-arms are the only parts I've read about so far on this forum. Their adjustability, bushing choice, and price point make it the top choice for me. A Chevelle part# is forthcoming. Grand National ( GN ) hubs look killer and are built that way. Here's a sample of these hatless hubs: Front GN Hub (http://www.secureperformanceorder.com/afcostore/getproduct.cfm?CategoryID=12&ClassID=153&SubclassID=736&ProductID=1620) Rear GN Hub (http://www.secureperformanceorder.com/afcostore/getproduct.cfm?CategoryID=12&ClassID=153&SubclassID=739&ProductID=1625) 1.25" X 11.75" Rotor (http://www.secureperformanceorder.com/afcostore/getproduct.cfm?CategoryID=3&ClassID=41&SubclassID=1586&ProductID=6469)
I don't know where the specific Chevelle or B-body tall spindle is located (anyone want to provide a link?), but many SC spindles have the standard 3.5" caliper mounts welded on. Rearend caliper mount is a clamp-on which gets tack welded after you line it up right.
All sorts of calipers are available graemlins/thumbsup.gif and overall pricing is favorable.
If you are building a 3800 lb. corner twister, you should consider better hubs. Last year I helped build an SCCA CRX. Its final race of the season abruptly ended when the OEM hub broke putting it into the wall graemlins/angry.gif . I now pay attention to the finest of details...

Metric refers to "g" body design.

Ah, finally someone who's done it.
February 2004 issue of Popular Hot Rodding has Mike Face's '70. Very nice graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Okay, it's all hand-fabricated (absolutely love the dash), but it sets an example.
Hey Mike, you've definitely got the talant, how about being the first to build a bolt-in replacement frame (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=7;t=007151) with those quality racing components... and geometry? Or atleast an A-Arm/R&P and rear suspension conversion?
Regards,
Steve
