I changed my old gear box in my 65 malibu with a 99 cherokee box and used a kit from a Lee manufacturing that came with a 3/4-30 rag joint, pressure seat, and return seat. The rag joint and gear box with seats went in great. When I installed the lines, the pressure side threaded in but didn't fit right and the threads in the gear box looked good. The return line fit. What high pressure line do I need to get. Any help would be great!

I think the correct Grand Cherokee boxes are from 1992.5 until 1998 model year... Not a "Cherokee" but specifically a GRAND Cherokee (different body style that the Cherokee) not sure what differences a 1999 version might incorporate, but I assume there are differences, or else it would be in the list... Maybe its no longer a quick ratio version? Or maybe the sweep radius changed? Or? Maybe they used a different fitting, but thats seems odd...
Here is some GREAT information compiled by JimL82 (he used to work for GM's Saginaw Steering Gear Division)...

So lets assume for the time being that you meant a " '92-'98 Grand Cherokee" box...
What do you mean by the pressure side threaded in but didn't fit right
just confusing. If it "threaded in", what fit wrong?
Assuming it has the standard "metric O-ring" hose fitting in the Cherokee box, If you wanted a different hose, I think you would need to remove the press-in flare seats you installed (at least the pressure side), and maybe run a later Camaro hose (search, I think it was a 1980 Camaro pressure hose that is a close match to a Chevelle small block hose, but I haven't figured if it will work on both short and long water pump cars)...
However, IF you use the newer Camaro hose, you will need to change the fitting on the back of your pump too (to one that will accomodate the metric O-ring fitting on the newer hose) ... the fitting from a Grand Cherokee might work, if you have access to that. Some places such as Lee and AGR might sell the pump outlet fitting (orifice?) as well...

Thanks for the help. The part # on the gear box is 7525 I might have stated the wrong year. What I ment by the pressure side threaded in but didn't fit was it never was tight like the threads in the gear box were the right size but a hair to big, maybe worn out and when I started the car the fluid seeped out, couldn't turn the steering wheel. I removed the pressure hose and threaded it back in the old gear box and it tightend uplike it should. It seems like the threads in the gear box are worn out or their metric like you stated but why would the return side fit(not metric).

That guy at Lee Mfg would be a good place to start. Very knowlegeable!

The threads are "metric" but they are very close to the SAE size... The fluid is under very high pressure, so IF it only "seeped" out, I'd try to snug it up a bit...
Did you properly "bleed" the system?

It's so easy to use the right fittings I don't know why you guys are messing around with those seat adapters and mismatched SAE metric threads. Get the 81 camaro press hose, an o-ring type fitting for the back of the PS pump, and an o-ring return tube. Millions of the fittings and return tubes in any bone yard. Making it way harder than it needs to be. Jim.
