355 small block votec heads going to switch to the xtreme energy 268 cam. What converter do i need? how does the converter make a big impact on the car? will i have heating problems if its my every day driver? would the engine converter combo backed by 373 gears turn my rear end to mush?

get a big trans cooler, and invest in a good converter, like a hughes, or ati, or yank. spend the money now on something good that yo wont have issues with.

i ran that cam with stock converter, it ran good, but it could use mre.

i personally would put a 3k yank in it.

my friends DD's his 02 ta with a 4k yank and 4l80e. zero over heat issues. just trans an external trans cooler and your set.

I used to run a 355 with the XE268H cam. I used a Coan 11" converter, advertised stall 2400-2800. Car ran low 13's in the 1/4 mile at 101mph. This was with 3.42 gears.

A converter will make a night and day difference in how the car responds, I would go with a 2500-3000 or so 10 in TCI. Once you change, you will be amazed!

That will let it idle nicely, it will respond quickly, and still be normally driveable.

Shoot me over the Gross Lift and Duration on the cam and I can tell you exactly what size stall you will need.
