Does anyone have a picture of the cowl induction relay mounted on your firewall? The assembly manual is a bit confusing and it seems there were revisions from early to later cars in 1970.

I have searched the site extensively and there seems to be no conclusive location for this relay. I have seen cars where it is mounted just below the wiring gutter and some where it is mounted just to the left (as you look at it) of the wiper motor on the slanted piece of the firewall. Mine is under the wiring gutter, but I have had people say that is incorrect - just wondering what the facts are or if it is random placement.

Hugh the relay under the wire gutter is the TCS relay, I believe. Here is a page showing the location of the cowl induction relay:

Hugh, mine is located exactly where it states it should be in the above pictures. To the left of the wiper motor and just to the right of the wiring gutter. There should be a hole for the screw or at least a dimple for the hole. Here's a picture of where mine is.

Mike,

What is the build date on your car? The diagrams and pictures in that technical reference show that the hole is located at the very bottom of the angled vertical section, which would place the relay on the slanted angled section.

The body assembly manual actually shows just to the left of those angled sections more under the Right side (as you look at the firewall) of the wiring gutter.

Thanks for the pictures!

Hi Hugh,
I think if you look at enough cars that you feel are original you will see variations of placement on this part. The assembly manual is a great resource, but not every assembly plant followed it exactly all the time. You will see that parts like this, are generally in the intended area, but sometimes are where the assembly line guy felt it fit better?
Hey Mike, clean that engine up before posting pics of it here will ya? Some guys use these pics as reference material you know. Gotta keep the standards here high........jk looks great!
