What would you recommend for a good overdrive Automatic transmission behind a 550hp 496 BBC?

Thanks

The 4l80e is what I have and what most people will recommend. Plenty strong for what you want but you can read what all it takes for yourself in other post.

Well after both your recommendations and reading post on here.

I guess it will be a 4l80e for me.

Jake. I checked out your site. I will contact you about my combination and see what you recommend and what kind of price I will be looking at. thanks

On a side note. I guess the 700r4 my boss gave me years ago will be going up for sale!

Jake,

Please price him a good TH200-4R(R4), whatever, that will hold his engine at the same time!

I mention this b/c of it's installation size is all.

Paul,
If this is going into a Chevy truck, fitment isn't a problem. Nor is it on a 68-72 Chevelle.

He can buy a 750 HP capable 4L80E for less than $2000 or he can buy a 650 HP capable 200-4R for about $3000.

There is a reason I suggested a 4L80E.

Plenty of room, lots of torque, heavier truck application, and less expensive.
