this is a pointless rant about how stupid i am. for the last year i have been losing nhra s st races breaking out.i have a pretty good handle on what my throttle stop ratio is and what weather changes effect the car but i keep trying to cut it to close and im not driving the finish line close enough. keep taking to much stripe. the last one in iowa last weekend was the worst. i had an .007 light to his .105 and the guys car blew up at half track. past 1000 ft i peddled the car a few times but did not hit the brakes and broke out. i must have had 25 car lengths . i only killed the mph about 4 and looking over the 1000ft et i killed about .008 1/4 et. it ran a 10.881. basically i guess im trying to say im a moron. my average reaction time in all my last losses is about a .010 an im wasting it. i need some verbal abuse

i hate throttle stop racing, it just drives me nuts. i know it's because i'm a dinosaur, and that it takes a lot of technology to pull it off, but i never understood why you want to drive a 8 second car 10 seconds.

now, i wish you luck, because you obviously want to be successful in your quest. you know what's wrong, and obviously way smarter than me, so get in there and get it done, so we can revell in your victories....

I also prefer the non electronic racing. Just run it all out during T & T and dial it in at your best run. Takes all the math, over thinking and errors in programming out of the equation.

Gary is there some rule I am unaware of that you have to turn a minimum time? Once you are that far ahead can't you just lift, slide it neutral and not risk breaking out?

I sense you're holding something back, Gary. http://72.41.135.74/SMF/Smileys/default/violin.gif

no, thats the point. i lifted a little but not near enough. i could have planted my foot on the brakes at 1000 feet and coasted across the line at 30 mph and still won

The guy at the front of my road does it. I have seen them beat themselves up silly so many times. But when they have those good days of racing it really is impressive to see them go rounds. Heck, there are alot of things I don't understand in this hobby also but trust me these guys make use of that 8 second car in 10 seconds. Just a different world.

you say you have " pretty good" idea of your et thats almost as close as sorta, kinda, maybe, i thought, get my point. first thing to do is stop dialing soft, dial so you WILL only run 10.91 flat out. after you CAN, not kinda, do that, you should at least stop quacking, you know dead duckitis. then learn to drive the finish line, a good start is to try some bracket racing in a slower class, if you car qualifies for say pro class you might find some slower cars than yours, racing slower cars is as simple as dialing real soft then putting a half wheel on um and lead em on through. you didnt say what your mph was, i know from experience "SS/T 6906" racing the real fast mph cars is tricky thats why i dial HARD. but racing slower cars way easier if you dont worry about bo. our time slips have what is called m.o.v. margin of victory. this does the calculation of r.t. and + or - your e.t and his and tells you how much stripe was taken or given. if you can get that to a .015 with what you say your r.t. is you will be cashing more checks. and having more fun. first things first STOP your b.o.

Pick me! Pick me! :hurray:

Put a bunch in your pocket, and I'll pick your pocket every time.;)

I LOVE racing guys with real fast cars who are known for doing that.

Gary, with your experience, you could hold a school on drag racing.
That, and your car is totally bitchin'.

You won't be getting any scolding from me, bro.

Thanks for all your help making my car a reality.

I'll be hunting down 10's next season.
