This is a great site, been lurking for a while....
I am wondering about adapting C5 calipers to the 11.75 x 1.25 (I think) C3 rotors (for the front of my 66 Nova). I want to be able to run 15" wheels, but want a good looking modern caliper.
Anybody have any opinions or info on this?
I appreciate the help.

If you don't get any responses here, try checking out www.corvetteforum.com (http://www.corvetteforum.com) if you haven't already.

I don't know that 15" wheels would clear those calipers even with smaller rotors. The calipers are very 'thick', in addition to large diameter. The face of the caliper would likely rub the back of the wheel spokes. I'm doing the C5 swap, and I'm going to be very lucky if I don't have that problem with 17x9.5 wheels, without having to run spacers. I chose old-school style wheels though with thick spokes. You'll notice that C5 vette wheels have very thin spokes.

Jeff Jeff,
If you want a modern looking caliper, have you tried looking at the Wilwood aluminum calipers that replace the stock iron moraine calipers? Granted its no C5 caliper when it comes to caliper spread issues, but I think you'll run into wheel/caliper clearance issues due to the C5's strengthening ribs.
Have you checked out RJ's website with the tall spindle C3 setup? You can't beat it for price/clamping force comparison. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks, guys. I know I can do the CBB w/suburban calipers, or maybe use the replacement calipers,or I could use C4 12", but I may try to mock up a C5 caliper on a C3 rotor just to see what's up there. I'm trying to stay all GM and find a good match the front and rear calipers, AND be different from everybody else...probably not real smart, but a fun exercise. I'll let you know. Thanks!
