HELP... has anybody out there ever sucessfully replaced the rear bushings on top of the 12 bolt differential?? I don't want to break the ears off, and I am in the process of a full restro, I tried a little heat, tried to make a little press. graemlins/angry.gif
Drill out the rubber with common hand drill, you should be able to pop out the inner shell. Then take a chisel and collaps the remaining shell. It will pop out too.

I used DG's method. It worked just fine.

I used an air hammer on mine and just drove them out. I found that getting the new ones in was harder than getting the old ones out.

When putting the new ones in. Put them in the ffreezer the night before. lightly lube the ear holes then just whack 'em in place with a 2 lb dead blow hammer

Will the install method work on poly bushings? I just got the Edelbrock adjustable upper control arms and they came with poly bushings. Thanks!

I put the same kit on mine, and it is fairly easy. Lube them & bump them in with a medium hammer. Use a piece of wood to spread the force from the hammer. It is not too dificult. Dennymac

I just replaced my diferential bushings as well. I drilled the rubber with a 1/8th inch bit, making 6 holes around the inner steal. Drove the inner out. Then using a 1-1/8th spade bit drilling out most of the rubber. This will let you roll the rubber out, leaving the outer bushing. I used a saws all "carefully" scoring the bushing on the top and the bottom as well as the outer portion. Then I used a chisel and bent the bushing in half, came right out. When I went to install the oem bushinging I lubed up the out side a little. Using a big socket to cover the bushing end, I drove the new one in. Hope this helps. FF276
