I am going to replace my rear control arms (upper and lower). I was going to purchase Hotchkis upper and lowers, but a friend of mine recommended a company: Globalwest. Stating: that with Hotchkis you are mainly paying for the name.

The Global west products look pretty interesting: they use bearings at the frame and a different form of bushing(rather than polyurethane) at the rearend.

Has anyone used suspension products from Globalwest, and if so, what is your opinion(s)?

Here are the websites for both companies:
www.globalwest.net (http://www.globalwest.net)
www.hotchkis.net (http://www.hotchkis.net)

Any replies / opinions would be greatly appreciated. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Yup,
Global West rear lower control arms with Del-a-lum bushings on my Monte.

IMHO, they make the best suspension products on the market.... graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Go to the Global West Group Purchase in Brakes And Suspension, and you may be able to offer us "Team Members" some additional "Advice" as to the $$$s.

As always, any and all info save all of us "BIG $$$s".

About 5 years ago I went from a stock F41 rear suspension (fresh rubber bushings, boxed lowers, 7/8 swaybar) to a complete Hotchkis package (boxed uppers and lowers, and full poly bushings) reusing my 7/8 swaybar. The back of the car rode terribly rough. I then tried putting my stock uppers back on and left the Hotchkis lowers. Still rode rough, although not as bad. I ended up going back to stock and sold the Hotchkis stuff.

Last year I bought the GW TBC-4 lowers and kept my stock uppers. I also removed my sway bar as I went to tall spindles at the same time. The ride harshness actually DECREASED from the stock setup even with the del-a-lum bushings at the rear end and the bearings at the frame. The GW stuff works quite well.

You can now one-up that setup by using the new Edelbrock upper arms, which use your current rubber bushings in the rear end and put a spherical bearing (like the GW arms) on the frame, they also allow pinion angle adjustments. A friend recently put these on his 66 Chevelle (he also has GW lowers) and really likes them.

For upgrading the stock 4-link, it's hard to beat the GW lowers. However there are many advantages to going to the new Hotrods to Hell truckarm suspension, but that's a lot more involved (and more permanent) than just bolting in new arms. If you do get the GW lowers, you will not be disappointed.

Torqueman suggested the Edelbrock Upper control arms and I took his advice and went with those. I'll be working on my car this weekend! Should be fun! Currently I have stock lower control arms with Prothane Poly Bushings and stock Uppers with stock bushings. With the Edelbrock kit, Polyurethane bushings are included for the rear end.
