I have an issue with my brakes wanting to work intermittently on my chevelle. We recently converted to power disks in the front and some bozo shop installed both a bad master and a bad brake booster. I have to remedy that problem with replacement parts from kragen. So far everything is well but I have a problem on occasion of my pedal travel. Sometimes the pedal will travel partway to the floor and become like a brick, and of course the car will continue to coast. Is this a vacuum issue or a brake fluid issue? I pulled the top off of the master to look at the fluid level and noticed that the fluid is uneven. A lot of it is in the second barrel closest to the firewall and not much fluid is in the front. My master is not level at all becuase with the booster position it makes the master sit very awkwardly. Can I shim the booster out to make the master sit level? Do I have more problems then just that? thanks in advance

The master isn't supposed to sit level. The front will be higher than the rear.

You might still have a bad master cylinder. It's not unheard of for someone to get 2 or 3 bad remanufactured masters in a row.

I'd top off the fluid in the front and check for leaks. Maybe the fluid is low enough that it's causing air to get into the system, might want to rebleed the front brakes.

as stated above, the master does not sit level when on the booster in the car. A pretty big tilt is correct. However, that tilt is why you have to bleed the master cylinder off the car, level in a vice on the bench. That way, you won't get air trapped in the top of the master in a corner that won't come out. I'd take the master off, bench bleed it, then install and bleed all again.
