1ATony Sep 14th, 09, 12:18 PM That's horrible.
I was watching the news last year and a tornado tore through a neighborhood. One of the residents had a mint 69 Mustang in the garage that got sucked up and tossed like 2 miles from the home.:(
quikss Sep 14th, 09, 12:30 PM Compared to what those guys in California send to junk yards, that is really restorable for here in the rust belt!!!! Ok, maybe its a bit too far, but those California guys would never believe what we in the midwest will keep and fix.
Jeff

We have it pretty good, but the coastal cars get pretty bad, pine needles and dirt and salt water dont hold up the metal very well... then of course there are the cars that you right coasters brought back here when the hippie invasion was going on that was like bringing bad fruit into Cali. :p The best is the Arizona cars...
70 SS LS-5 Sep 14th, 09, 1:26 PM Maybe the owner of that car should've paid attention to the fact that fires are a huge problem there every year. Kindof like the people that are upset when a hurricane blows down there house when they live on the ocean. I have no sympathy for people who knowingly live in a danger zone and then cry when something bad happens.

LOLOLOL. No kidding. :D
Fortunately, there's something I can do about a .45 pointed at my face. Not much anybody can do when there's a 10000 acre wildfire bearing down on their house.

Your right. When I know a fire is coming down my path I have the option of staying or getting out of the way. In the case of a .45, you may not have an option. But no doubt, fires create sad situations.

lg1969 Sep 14th, 09, 4:48 PM You know, living here on long Island which is known as hurricane Alley. I get worried of my Chevelle getting damaged everytime a hurricane comes ripping through the area.
So far, we have been lucky the big one has not come here....yet? :(
The last big one that came here was in 1938

Wouldnt mags have burned themselves up, or were they part aluminum. Because Mag (magnesium) is used in incindiary devices to destroy military equipment left behind to render them useless.,

Also for CAD welding. That magnesium burns extremely hot and extremely bright white

1969 El Camino Dan Sep 14th, 09, 10:41 PM "Mags" is a colloquial term from the "old days"
99.9 % of modern alloy wheels are mostly aluminum.
Magnesium was/is used for racing wheels because it is very light. Not for the street crowd.
