My 69 Malibu has drum brakes - came without booster.

I have redone the front brakes completely, cylinders, lines, pads etc. I bled the brakes alot.

I added a new power booster with master cylinder.

Here's the rub ..... Of course
I have not changed the rear out yet and I know there is some air in the lines there but ....

I changed the quadrajet to a Holley, there are only 2 suction lines on the Holley fron and rear - obviously the front is designed to connect to the valve cover. The rear one says it is a BOSS port and it was plugged and I connected the booster to this....

I have no pedal at all - even adjusted the front brakes out .... with the no pedal is virtually no brake...

What am I missing here?

The booster should be connected to manifold vaccum, not the carb. There should be a vacuum port tapped in the intake manifold behind the carb (toward the firewall). Also, if you suspect that you still have air in the rear lines, then by all means bleed them. You'll never have a firm pedal with air in the lines.

Thanks, I knew I had to be doing something wrong.

Behind the Carb - on the original manifold on the 350 is what I would call a vacuum tree or "T" ; the two sides are capped and the top of the T has a copper line attached which appears to going down to the transmission. This T is tapped into the #8 manifold.

If this is the correct place for connection, then I would just have get an adapter to the larger booster line.

Thanks again for the help.

BTW - does anyone know what the "BOSS" vaccuum on the Holley is? O joy now I gotta take the carb back off and put the plug back in.

Also, I haven't bled the rears yet because I have got to rebuild them .... the cars not really drivable - just want to move it in and out of the garage to work on it now.... thanks again.

Lack of pedal (and pressure) is probably not caused by where you hooked up the booster. Bleed the lines. Also, which Holley is it? The street avenger line does have a power brake vacuum fitting, in addition to the PCV fitting, the ported fitting (ignition advance), and the non-ported fitting (transmission modulator).

The Carb is model # 0-6210 a 650 CFM.

The box does not say street avenger - it just says street legal oe ....

Suppose to be be the type that just bolts right on in place of the Qjet ....

Thanks for the help!
