Just curious, since I have seen so many variations of the number one stamped as 1 or I from Tonawanda, does the #1 in the photo look correct?

Didn't know how to attach photo to this thread. so placed here:

Wasn't sure, since seen so many different #1s come out of Tonawanda. Have had a few people email me to say the stamp is correct. I guess you agree.

Thanks.

In the date fields; 1 and I were used for the same thing, the number 1.

Thanks. Knew Tonawanda used I and 1 interchangeably. Just verifying that the number 1 was correct and my block was not a re-stamp. Member sent this link to confirm not a restamp.

For a better opinion we need a better picture.
The pad should be cleaned with a chemical cleaner, not sand paper or steel wool.
Take a picture that shows the pad in focus with clean metal.

Right, I agree. Would like to see if the broach marks look correct. The CKO code, used for L78, would be one that someone would maybe right to restamp. Does it have the correct larger oil galley holes above the oil filter mounting area?

Yes, it's a 4 bolt block. Have build sheet and protect o plate which confirms car is an L78.
