1970 - SS - 350 - 4 speed car is doing something wierd.

Under full acceleration, when he shifts gears and the front end dips (between gears)the car pulls pretty dramatically to the right.

It will also happen when he goes over a hill with some speed - as the front suspension of the car is coming down it pulls the car to the right.

Only happens on the weight transfer down - drives straight - brakes straight.

Any one with some Nova experience that can help me with this one?

Recently there has been a lot of discussion on this forum concerning bumpsteer, particularly on doing tall spindle conversions on A body cars. I have no personal experience with bumpsteer but according to what research I've done on the subject, it sounds like his problem may be a bumpsteer issue. Apparently bumpsteer occurs when the suspension is compressed and the toe-in changes between the front tires. This can cause direction changes without any change in the steering wheel. Has your buddy made any front steering or suspension changes in the car? I would guess that a good alignment shop could sort out the problem for him.

What kind of shape are the subframe to body mounts in? Sometimes the frame rots in this area and lets the subframe move for and aft on acceleration and deceleration.
