All,
My 72 El Camino has the CS130 Alternator. The "L" wire connection keeps frying wires!! I can hook up the "L" wire and instantly I can watch smoke coming from the wires! I am going to order the A/C Delco 8087 alternator connector w/ the resistor built in it. Will this resolve my problem?

Does the "L" wire have to go to a wire running off the ignition switch or can the "L" be connected to any power wire?

I'm hoping that the 8087 resistor adapter will fix the problem and elimitate the wire frying.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The "L" wire must only have power when the key is on. If it had power all the time it would drain the battery.

The "L" wire should NEVER be connected to a direct 12v source, it must have some resistance, either from a GEN lamp and/or a resistor. See my posts here (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=115803)

Greg. Thanks for the info. I'm ordering either the AC Delco 8078 resitor adaptor or the Napa ECHEC82 resitor adapter.

This should do the trick
