Well let me just start off with WTFever to carshow organizers and some of the clubs. My car got chose for the Trophy and I did not get it because of some bull ****. I took my daily driver to the show after work and figured I would hang out with my dad and just look at cars.

Well this hott gurl asked me about my car and I told here everything, well it just so happened she was the Trophy judge. She chose my car and the Car club leader and organizer said no it was too new. Mind you this car is a 1999 SS Camaro and yeah it is new. But it is a 1 of 31 car. I asked why and they said because of the year. It must be 1989 and older. The reason why its 89 and older is because his car is a 1989 Ford Mustang Fox Body.

Seriously get bent to you guys. You have 4 people in your car club and it sucks.

This has happened to me twice. My 1971 Chevelle another gurl chose and they said no because it wasnt complete and gave it to one of there buddy's with a new corvette (2008). But 1999 is to new.

WTF I hope you guys get the crabs of a million whores and arms to short to scratch it.

Now when theres 30 other top dollar cars there and they give the trophy to a new vette or mustang you shouldnt even be able to drive a nice car.

I dont go for trophys I go for the ride and socializing. But give me a damn break.

I LOVE ANIMALS BUT LEAVE YOUR ACCIDENT PRONE FAMILY AND DOGS AT HOME TOO

WHAT PISSES YOU OFF AT LOCAL EVENTS ?????????????

Settle down dude, its a freaking trophy. If it means that much to you to have a superficial shiney piece of metal, I can send you a bowling trophy or two.

Everyone knows car club car shows are biased to beat hell. This happens everywhere across the country. If the only reason you have the car is for tropheys, then you need to start attending real shows, with real judges, and real scoring and see how your car does.

Otherwise, quit being a baby, enjoy the car, and enjoy the show. If you get a stupid shiney piece of plastic and metal, good for you. It isnt worth anything unless you do as you are doing and letting it get under your skin

WHAT PISSES YOU OFF AT LOCAL EVENTS ?????????????

rice grinders showing up with REAL Hot Rods and blaring their dang rap crap over REAL music. The Tipp City show is bad for this. If your car plas music, fine, JUST MAKE IT DECENT!

Punk kids showing up and showing little consideration for other's cars. What happened to MANNERS?!? CONSIDERATION?!? ARE THOSE STILL WORDS?!? This does not happen all the time, just sometimes but when it does occur it makes me mad.

That's it, that's all I've experienced.

If the show is 1989 or older and your car is newer then that, then rules are rules IMO. I would just blow it off. Im with you though. I dont understand why the judge would have even gave your car a consideration if it was too new to be eligable for a trophy in the first place.

I go to one car show a year anymore. The Md Chevelle club at Northeast Md.Great show. The only reason I go there is because there's nowhere else close I can see 150-200 Chevelles in one place.Too much other stuff to do on weekends besides sitting around a car show for hours fretting about trophys.:beers:

Same here Doug, for the most part my car goes in one show a year, and it doesnt have tropheys. It is just a large gathering of car lovers. This shoe brings almost 100,000 people to look at the cars, all in one night. It is tons of fun, the time goes by fast as can be. With no tropheys to be concerned about, everybody has a great time.

We had a really nice show every year about 4 blocks down the road from me at a park. They stopped doing it several years ago because of all the whining about favoritism and such. Seems like nowadays you either have to give everyone a trophey or nobdy a trophey. Just like elementary school, someones going to get there feelings hurt

Have one made - trophy that is. I did that because a guy who wanted to race my mouse motor with his big block '66 didn't show up at the track. I paid to have a trophy made, labeled "Winner of the first annual Sessler/Melton Grudge Race" and brought it to the office and placed it on my desk.

Boy, was he frosted until I let him in on the whole thing.

I'm betting that he said '89 or older because they wanted all the cars in the judged part of the contest to be 20 years old or older. Now at the other show you were talking about, where the 'vette won, maybe it ws an open class.

Just chill, you'll get one some day.

Car shows - The biggest reason I go is I enjoy looking at the cars and talking to the people. I dont even care about the awards. Most times on back out on the road before judging is done. I would much rather be Cruizin.......

If I'm going to a car show, (and I usually don't), I drive my Pathfinder and park down the street somewhere. Walk around, look at the cars, then go home.

Trophies are for low self esteem guys that need somebody else to tell them they have a cool car. Don't sweat it, it's just a piece of junk that'll gather dust at home anyway. Just enjoy your car.

I laugh at trophies. I was involved in archery for many years, I won on average about 40 trophies a year. I got to the point I didn't even take it if I won, if it was a state or regional Iwould pull the plate off the front and give them back the rest of it. Funnier yet was 3d (hunting style) archers. the 3d guys would complain if the trophy was not at least 3 feet tall! My wife went to one of those tournament with me saw the things and flat out told me, if you win don't bring one of those things home lol.
enjoy the cars, enjoy the people forget about the hollow plastic thing.

For those of us who go to local shows to socialize and just see the cars, all you need to do is park your car and put a "DO NOT JUDGE" card on the windshield. Let people see your car, enjoy the compliments and leave when you are ready with no anxiety.

Just think how the Elky owners feel. It seems that they are almost never put in the right field and get shorted on trophies because of that.

Having been a member of a local club and an unwilling judge at a few car shows, I have learned a few things and have some info for you:

1. You will never make all of the participants happy.

2. Most of us aren't qualified to judge our own model of car let alone the numerous varieties you get from an open local show.

3. If you bring your trophies and display them I am going to assume that you don't need anymore and pass your car up.

4. Rare cars aren't necessarily desirable and rare doesn't mean you should get a trophy.

5. I don't care how much you paid for your paint job. If you are that upset about not winning best in class and feel you need to make a fool of yourself in public, I will gladly give you your $20 back as long as you leave. $20,000 in paint and you are upset about a $10 trophy?

6. Don't go to local shows if you don't want local judges!

7. Go for the fun and the cars.

i register to support the event but have them write "do not judge" on the form. i'm not going to be held in "trophy jail" waiting on late in the day awards for a $4 trophy. i have a whole shed full of late 60s and early 70s drag strip trophies at my parent's house. why need/want more!!!

Look on the bright side, you know your car is trophy worthy. Its more about what you think about your car than what others think. A lot of people look at my car and think its a piece of crap. I think it s a good 20 footer and I drive the crap out of it. Drive the car and have some fun along the way.

What gets me at car shows are the new cars with all the brochures pictures and price tags if I want to see that I'll go to the dealership and see a whole row of the same thing. When I had my vette I would see price tags on all the c5's saying 44,000 to 50k Now I bet they wont put them on since they are now 25 to 30 k

Car show judging will always guarantee one thing every time: Someone unhappy.

I'm curious as to why they would even let a later model car in if the show was for older cars.
