came over from the camaro sight. i have someone's 68 chevelle engine. i found this motor in a barn in n.j. it's been sitting on an engine stand since nov 30 1973. the motor was going in a 55 nomad. the person who was putting it in his nomad was killed on dec 1 1973, i week before he was putting it in his car. he was drag racing in a 67 elcamino in asbury, n.j. and dropped his driveshaft and the car was vaulted into a telephone pole. the nomad and motor have sat in the same spot for 36 years. the motor code is ef which is a 350hp engine but it has 840 heads dated h68. the visible vin is 18b145239. don't know if the chevelle is gone but hopefully we can reunite. jeff

The shaft can vault a car? I just thought it would bend.

ryan, i too thought the same thing. the story was told to me by the deceased sister who after 36 years is understandably still upset by her little brother's death. the shaft dropped and hit a raised round storm grate and the brother lost control at over 120 mph.

that is the whole purpose of having a safety loop installed around the driveshaft
