I'm going to replace the spring, shocks, and control arm bushings for the rear of my 72 chevelle. do I have to replace the ball joints? Iv'e heard that if you remove them that you have to replace them but do I even have to remove them to do this job?

If you are talking about the front suspension, you should replace them. You can't take the control arms off to replace the bushings without disconnecting the ball joints. Besides, if you are replacing all the other worn out parts, why wouldn't you want to change the ball joints too?

Just replace em, and enjoy the peace of mind that everything is new and in good shape. smile.gif

EDIT: I just re-read your question.... if you're talking about the rear suspension, there aren't any ball joints in the rear....
