:hurray: Yesterday I met a great guy who bought my real 67 chevelle ss that I had listed for sale on this site. After we talked about my car, he told me a car story (stolen vin plates) that I have to share with everyone. Maybe we can help him out. He is from Connecticut.
A few months ago, some bad guys broke into his shop yard and stripped his real 66 SS black chevelle that he was restoring in Connecticut. The suspects stole the front end, hood, doors, grill, interior and several other parts. They also stole the body and vin tags off the car. So we know what their intentions were. They are cloning a car with his original 138 tags. Now Connecticut only uses vehicle registrations for old cars. Most of their old cars do not have titles. The problem is, he does not have any paperwork or the vin to report the vin/car parts stolen to the police. He still has the shell and frame of the car. The suspects stole just about everything to make/clone a real ss car.
I told him that I thought their were other vin numbers stamped on the frame in different locations, but I'm not sure. Can "anyone help us out here". I can pass this info onto him. He had his heart and stole into this car, and he is devastated about what happen...
Also buyers beware when looking at a real Black 66 Chevelle SS with 138 vins. Make sure you don't get stuck with a clone with his body and vin tags on it...
