Well its coming up next weekend and for the first time Im entering the 66 in the show. TOG talked me into it:D plus its a good parking spot at the show. I will be leaving Thursday after work if Im working that day or not. If Im not working then I will leave mid afternoon.
My Bro lives in Long Beach and has a 5th wheel for Danielle, Evan and Me to sleep in while we are there. Its always a good family weekend. My younger bro Chris and his Family will be down along with my Mom and her husband Mike. Its like a small family reunion / car show:D

I just got in from detailing the car. I just thought it would be nice to clean her up and give her a waxing. :D Even did under hood and trunk:yes:
I know its not a show car but at least its clean and FAST:D

It is a great show...Cruising town Fri and Saturday night is great..The sidewalks are packed. Another cool thing is the drive to/from the show (it is 10 miles out of town). The people who live out there set up lawn cars and will hold up signs and will try to get you to burn out. They even will water down the road to help ya!! Watch out for the cops down there though. I heard they bring in a bunch of Staters for the show, most in unmarked cars....Also, bring rain gear. I have not been in a few years, but it usually POURS at some time during the weekend.:(

It is a great show, seems I remember a figure years ago at over 2000 cars! It was more fun years ago before the county figured a way to capitalize on the rowdy behavior. I've been stopped just about every year up there for one reason or another, got pulled over last year for doing 30 in a 25 coming into Illwaco. Had to do a sobriety test, passed, the officer said I was acting suspicious. My driver's electric window wasn't working so I had to open the door to answer his questions. I just think they're sucking the fun out of that weekend for the revenue. Don't know if we'll show up this year???

I have been in years past when it was real rowdy. Drunk people out in the street while 500+HP cars are doing burn outs. Its a wonder no one got killed back then. I think they are just trying to protect the bystander on the side just watching everyone cruise. Its real easy for a car like this to get out of control so its best to be safe. I did a couple of burn outs on the way back to Long Beach from the show. Like you said people will water down the street trying to get you to do a burn out. We usually cruise in line back to town for just a few miles then cut off to a side street and fly back into town.

Kevin, I am looking forward to having a couple of cool cars parked next to me at the Rod Run . Since you will be there on Thursday I will leave it up to you to stake out a spot for the TCNW crew. I should be there in the early afternoon on Friday :D. Give me a call tomorrow 9/6 and we will talk about where the good spots are to get in and out of the show field .

not as many as last year. They also just chip sealed the highway so burnouts were not a good idea unless you hate your 1/4 panels.

There is/was a Willys Coupe at the South Hill wrecking yard when I drove by 2 weeks ago, Tracy said they pulled it back from the front fence since. From what I saw, it was in fair shape but obviously was a project car....no price on it from what I could see. If someone is interested, I can stop by, it's only 5 minutes from me.

... If someone is interested, I can stop by, it's only 5 minutes from me.

I have no money, no way of getting it here, and no frame or drivetrain for it.

However, it has always been one of my all time favorite rides.

I guess if it was cheap enough I could find a way to get it here and a place to store it until I won the lotto. :D

I'm in Camas and thanks for the kind words. And yes, I need some motivation. Other summer stuff has kept me pretty busy this year. Car has never been for sale if this is the one you are thinking you saw on CL. NEVER will be either, especially on CL. :D

I heard this past weekend that a bunch of bad crap happened down there during the weekend???
One was a women, while attempting to do a burnout, crashed into another rod (heard the husband who felt he was too drunk to do a burnout, told the wife to do one).

Another was that this KILLER Camaro had acid or something poured onto it's 40k paint job...

http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii258/1966malibu/Rod%20Run%202009/RodRun2009013.jpg

And finally, a guy killed his fiance. I guess she tried breaking up with him, she attempted to give him back his 60k ring. He refused to take it since he did not want to split up, she then suggested she was going to hawk it....She was the daughter of a memeber of the Beach Barons....

wow......

Yep thats what happened. My Brothers wife grew up there and knew the girl that was murdered by her ex. I didnt know about the burn out but what do you expect when you get that many cars and people in one place. Always going to find crazy people. I kept my car off the road Saturday night.
