: Found why I couldn't go quicker
Jim_D Sep 4th, 09, 10:28 PM Since I have been off work I have had lot's of time to think about why my car didn't pick up more than a 100 hp at the dyno pull and why I didn't pick up much at the track when switching from 100 to 180 shot.
So....... I kept thinking of why. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/images/smilies/017.gif I knew it had to be a nitrous problem but where? I had enough pressure.
Then the light bulb came on. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/images/smilies/115.gif I remember seeing a screen in the nitrous line when I assembled it. Sure enough, the screen was blocked as in no light could been seen, as in I couldn't blow through it, plugged!.
I spent about a half hour cleaning it and it blows air which means it should deliver nitrous now.

Why would you hate Nitrous? It's an amazing chemical supercharger.
Fuel + Nitrous is a love affair. Add a real supercharger and look out!!!

cobaltchev67 Sep 5th, 09, 3:01 AM I can imagine that's definitely a frustrating issue. On the good side, it was an easy fix.
My guess as to why it was dirty could be a couple of things....when he filled up, there was crap in the filling station tank and it was picked up. That means they need a new filter(or a filter period), need to clean it out when it's empty regularly. OR, maybe the nitrous lines had debris in them from the factory.

FRYNTYR Sep 5th, 09, 1:13 PM Heck the 100 shot couldn't have been working right either. That thing had to have been richening up and nearly killing any benefit it was having with the fuel enrichment being much more than the Nitrous shot.

One reason I also knew something was up was on the video. At one of my 100 shot runs it I could see it was rich from the hit off the line to about 300'. Being new to this nitrous thing, I just assumed that was all I could get out of it but now I know better. Need a gear swap this winter. Anybody need a set of 4.57 pro gears for a 9"? Only 15 passes or so.
Looks like the weather is suppose to be good for next weekend. I will be there on Sat. and Sun.
