Well i started working on the body bushings this weekend. I started @ the front, i got both core support bushings done, but both of the ones by the back of the fenders i snaped the welds on the two cage nuts. I let them soak in brake fluid for a few hours and a week before i put some oil on them. I was able to take off the inner fender skirt to get a wrench on the nuts. I also replaced the next ones back that have no bolts that go through them. I am afraid to tackle the rear ones because if the nuts snap off i have to cut holes in my floor to get access to the nuts.

The car is an arizona car and both of these nuts had no rust on them, well one had a bit of surface rust but nothing major. I am going to soak the rear ones in brake fluid for the next couple of nights to see if that might help. Anyone else have any suggestions, i really don't want to have to cut up my floors to get access to these nuts in the back.

THANKS!!

Brake fluid, haven't heard of that one. PB Blaster, best penetrating oil I've seen. Spray a little on each day instead of the brake fluid. Unlike brake fluid that's what it's designed for.

I second PB Blaster, give it a try.

Ok i will look for this PB Blaster, should i check auto parts stores?

BTW i have used brake fluid many times and since its so thin it just flows right down the threads and has worked GREAT in the past. Anyway i would rather fill this thing with pentrating oil 10x over then snap one of those cage nuts in the back end.

THANKS!!!

I've used brake fluid for stripping paint, but it doesn't do anything for rust.

Ditto on that one. Don't get that brake fluid anywhere near painted parts, if you want the paint to stay on them.

Kroil or Sili-Kroil - "the oil that creeps" works well also. One can lasts forever it seems.

Go to: www.eastwoodco.com (http://www.eastwoodco.com) and enter KROIL in the search box.

I've never heard of using brake fluid either. I had a boss that restored old race cars. He was always pulling apart ancient assemblies of some kind, and he had me use Kroil on more than on stuck nut or bolt.

One of the key ingredients is TIME. Let it sit a good, long while. If you're not in a hurry on this job, I've heard a good way is to soak rags in the stuff and then wrap it around the thing that is stuck and let it sit for a week, periodically resoaking the rags.

Best of luck!

Well i have got the PB Blaster i will be spraying them this weekend, i might try one just a little but i think i will just let it sit another week, i am going to start straightening my front end since i have done the front 6 bushings and now my drivers door won't open.

Don't care about getting the brake fluid on any painted surfaces i havent painted my car yet.

Thanks for the help. I wil look into Kroil.
