I got a set of those fancy looking Currectrac billet lower control arms for my 67 SS along with a Helwig swaybar from SC&C. The sway bar is one inch too narrow. If it were just a little off I would just shim it, but spacing 1/2 inch on each side would look ridiculous. How can I remedy this? I've already bought the bar and would hate not to use it. Is there a sway bar that fits besides the expensive PT bars?

Call Mark @ SC&C, he will know what to do.

My stock width Summit rear sway bar wouldn't fit between my Edelbrock LCA's

I had to return it order an Edelbrock sway bar, fits great & cost a bit more. Has nice HD brackets.

I got the Currie arms and a a swaybar from SC&C. In my set-up I only needed a small spacer. Are you sure the rear is from an A body and not a full size car?

I measured the lower arm mounting points on my spare 10 bolt to be sure and they are the same distance. 40.5 inches between brackets measured from the inside. I also checked the casting number to confirm and the rear im using is a 12 bolt from a 70 chevelle. What kind of sway bar is that Fred? Im using the Helwig and it is silver vein color. Mines off about twice the distance yours are. I've tried to call Mark with no luck yet, but Ill keep trying after the Holiday.

I'm running the same setup from Marc on my 70 Malibu, and I didn't have as much shim as you are describing. Hellwig 1 " bar IIRC rear, A body part# straight out of the Hellwig catalog. Marc also has a contact at Hellwig that was excellent, don't have the guys name memorized but VERY helpful. I'm betting if you can reach Marc (good luck with that!) that the Hellwig guy will give you some dims to double check your bar. I'd be surprised if the made a mistake, but then they DID send me 5" end link bolts for my front bar when the kit claimed they were 6"! Overall, very satisfied with both parts on my Malibu. For SURE you don't want to bind those Curretrac LCA's up by pre-loading them sideways. I did a fit check and between the supplied washers, Homer Depot and Fastenal, I purchased different bolts and came up with a near perfect fit with off the shelf washers...... :D Remember, you slide it fore & aft which can minimize the gap between the LCA's and the Hellwig bar. I believe I ended up roughly mid slot and the bar was not rubbing on the diff. anywhere.

Here's the pic I found for consideration:

Thanks for the pic. I did get mine on today but they are spaced a little farther out that you guys. Looks to be about 3/8 inch space. I used a few washers between the trailing arm and sway bar. It looks like SH#$ to me, but works, and doesnt have my trailing arms in a bind. I'll try to find a better alternative for my 3/8 inch spacers later on. Also had to bend the sway bar outward a little more before mounting it. I ended up about mid slot as well Duane to minimize the gap from my original 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch. Thanks

What did you use to make those spacers?

how well will those aluminum arms hold up to the funky loads that a sway bar will put to them?
i can see using them just as a lower link with no sway bar- all the forces are transmitted straight from rear to front and front to rear- but putting twisting loads on an aluminum arm doesn't seem like a good long term plan.

As I recall they have been in use by quite a few folks here. maybe some of them can speak up.

I bought mine on the recommendations I read about them and discussions from Mark @ SC&C. Except all mine are doing is keeping me entertained until I fand the $ and time to finish the body. :D

The sway bar would only put up and down stress on the control arms, not tortional forces. Besides, I wouldn't give any design concerns to anything designed and manufactured by Currie.
