That's not a Chevey car 12 bolt Posi. It is an Eaton, but it's for the big GM cars, not the 12 bolt Chevy. These were found in big Olds and Buick cars. Most had 31 splines and some had 28 splines on the axles. If this guy counts the splines he will find that it doesn't have 30 splines in the axle gears. Looks like 31 to me, so ask him to count.

no, that appears to be a 12 bolt eaton for the gm big cars(like caddilac). it will have bigger ring gear bolts and usually 28 spline axles. tom

I can tell you without a doubt that it won't work. If someone buys this for a Chevy 12 bolt car rear end then they are going to be screwed because it will not work. I've seen this happen many times at swap meets. People who don't know better will buy these things and then find out that it won't work after it's too late to return it. If this is an honest guy then he will want to know that it won't work and you can proove it to him by counting the splines. ALL Chevy 12 bolt rear ends have 30 spline axles, even the trucks (except for some very early 12 bolt truck rear ends which I believe had 19). This unit of his will have 31 or 28 splines.
