I don't know squat about SS correctness but I would definitely go look at it.

One owner is always good that way you have the FULL history on the car (even if it was just parked for yearsss).

I think $8K is too much for a 71 SB SS project......

Well, I will put it this way. I have a running driving 72 SS 402 4 speed that is numbers matching from carb to pan including exhaust manifolds and is a cowl induction car, tach/gauges, 12 bolt posi, f-41, ps, pb, A/C, etc. I would sell it for 8K and it would be worth much more when finished than a small block 3 speed car!

Thanks guys. It is going in this weekend for primer and block sanding, which would be included with the 8k. new full qtrs, etc... If he gets it painted, he will add about $2500.00 to the 8k. He sounds like he know's what he is doing. I was wondering if it is as rare as the CL ad says....I will try to get some real info for you pro's to decifer.

I would think G41 suspension is rare...:D

I have pics of the build sheet(s) and title, but can not post pictures. Should I just do photobucket?

Try this.....

My questions are:

-There seems to be 2 copies of sheet #1703...does this happen?
-There is also another sheet 1702.....do the sheets change during assembly, or is it from another car?
-new qtrs, not to the roof
-new inners and trunk pan
-new trunk lid
-new fenders
-rust in floors and holes
-....................seems to be legit SS, but worth 7k???

The last two build sheets are correct and match the vin on the title. The first build sheet is for the previous car or the one built before the one that you are inquiring about.

I don't get "A/C with non-A/C dash". (?????)

This car was sold on ebay about a month ago for around 3-3.5k? I remember it was a no reserve auction because I couldn't believe how cheap it went. I was thinking of buying it myself... I remember the motor smoked bad or needed rebuilt.

It has a complete AC system, but no vents on the bottom of the dash????

Marion Indiana or there abouts? Is there any way to dig up the auction?

That sounds about right or possibly Illinois. I remember it wasn't too far from me.... It was a advertised as being a barn find and a one or two owner with all paper work, all original, and a smoking 350(I think the 350 wasn't original).

I deleted it from my watch list after the auction was over. I don't know how you can look up an expired auction

Can we confirm this is an SS with the pictures I supplied? I have him down to 6k, he has replaced 1/4 skins, trunk lid, and fenders. The roof, and hood look fine and doors have some rust at the bottom. Needs floor pan work.

Well lets look at it another way. Say buy it for $3K needing everything that was not done in the original ad. Now you can buy it with good driver quality paint that is brand new and have $8500 in it. There is no worse headache or nightmare in my area than trying to get good paint/body work at a reasonable price. You are working into an area of price that it is worth looking at and posting some pics.

Well fellas, it's no longer a question of WIW, becasue it was worth $5900.00 to me. I know you want the nitty gritty pictures, but this is all I had time for this morning, he dropped it off last night. New stuff it has already done: 1/4's, inner/outer wheel houseings, trunk pan, fenders and bumbers. Everything seems to be there including oem wheels in the trunk. Do I have what is needed to confirm it to be an SS?

It would have been a better buy with paint, but you start again at $3K and probably no way to get the listed new parts, work done and delivered for $2900. Not a steal but certainly at value. As I mentioned before the work that is done is the biggest pain in the ass especially for those of us that cannot do it.

You did what I always advise ......Buy some of the work done at a discount.

It will make a nice car. More pics when you can.
