: 65 Chevelle 300 Sedan???
nbrinkmann Sep 3rd, 09, 2:56 PM I am in dire need for any information on who sells or might have a pair of roof drip rail moldings, and a complete set of body side moldings for a 65 Chevelle 300 Deluxe 2 dr. Sedan. New or Used
Neither I or the owner can seem to find any anywhere. Also, I would be willing to pay a finders fee to the person that finds either of these parts!
Thanks, Nathan

Place a free ad in the parts wanted section, lots of Chevelle nuts look there.

I do have a set of drip rail moldings off of a '65 4-door, no idea if they are the same as used on the 2-door sedan though.
Also, concerning the body side moldings, they are different between the Chevelle 300 and the Chevelle 300 Deluxe. Are you looking for 300 or 300 Deluxe moldings? Either will be pretty hard to find, especially since you need the 2-door sedan pieces. The fender moldings are the same 2-door to 4-door of course, but the door and quarter panel moldings will be tough.
nbrinkmann Sep 3rd, 09, 4:30 PM The car is a 65 300 Deluxe. Sorry for any confusion.
Oh, 1 more needed part! I also need the lower interior rear window trim. It is made of sheetmetal, not plastic like for the other models, with 2 outer corner pieces. It goes between the back glass and the parcel shelf.
Rich-L79 Sep 3rd, 09, 4:37 PM The car I parted was a 300 Deluxe. If anyone can confirm that the roof rail moldings off a 4-door would work for you you are welcome to them. Given the car was a 4-door, the body side moldings would have been different. I think the trim on the fenders went with the front fenders when I sold them. I don't think I saved the interior metal you speak of anyway, but I'll take a look in my stash. It would probably be different on a 4-door anyway.
Do a search on here for a user call "allyears". He runs a salvage yard and his name is John. I've been there and I know he has two '65 2-door sedans way in the back of his place. Last I recall seeing them they were entirely stripped, but maybe one or two things are left or maybe he pulled them off already for safekeeping. That would be my best suggestion. Last I knew his number was 402-674-3147. He is REALLY hard to get ahold of sometimes, just keep trying. It's raining real hard here today so it might be a good time to try him as I don't think he'd be out in the yard on such a sloppy cold day.
nbrinkmann Sep 4th, 09, 5:35 PM Does anybody by chance know if the side mouldings are interchangeable between a 64 and 65?
rortwein Sep 4th, 09, 7:19 PM They are not. 64 was completely different that 65.
jeffschevelle Sep 5th, 09, 5:34 PM The entire back glass opening, back glass, package tray, roof skin and drip rails on a 64-65 two door sedan are all identical to a 64-65 four door sedan. So the 4-dr drips will fit like a glove.
On the inside trim piece beneath the back glass that you refer to, I thought that was part of the sheet metal panel between the decklid and the rear window, and not a separate piece. I will check my 300 2-dr sedan and confirm. Either way, that piece from a 4-door sedan will be identical to the 2-door sedan.
The same holds true for interchangeability of 66-67 4-dr sedan parts with 66-67 2-dr sedans. Unlike the Buick, Olds and Pontiac, the folks at Chev. apparently wanted their A-body coupes to have a distinct look that set them apart from the cheaper 2-door sedans. But they didn't spend the $$ to design and build another completely different roof structure for the 2-dr sedan. They just basically turned a 4-dr into a 2-dr post by putting a longer quarter panel on it and moving the B-pillar. You can actually convert a 66-67 four door sedan into a 2-door sedan if you weld in the B-pillar, rear inner side panel, and rear side glass frame out of a 2-dr sedan, and then put a full 2-door hardtop quarter on it (without the roof C-pillar / sail panel portion of course.)
Rich-L79 Sep 5th, 09, 7:55 PM Okay, my parts car has gone to the great recycling center in the sky so no harvesting metal from the inside rear.
I realized while poking around that I have a pair of standard El Camino doors that have trim along the lower crease in the door which *I believe* are the same as on the 300 deluxe 2-door. They are certainaly available to anyone who needs them as I'll never use them. The one strip I could clearly see was straight, no dings.
PM me about these pieces and the roof rail trims if interested.

There are two seperate pieces in the lower corners that screw in. These are sheet metal and apparently very prone to rusting. I have been looking for these two pieces for my car for some time now without success.
nbrinkmann Sep 9th, 09, 12:28 PM Okay, I possibly have leads on the fender and door moldings, anyone have the quarter moldings? The reason I ask, is that so far nobody has a complete set for sale, and my customer wants to make sure that he can get all 6 of the moldings.
Also, does anyone have a picture of the correct drip rail moldings?

These are off my 65 300 Deluxe 2 door.
