I'm not sure if this is my problem but I'm tired of pulling my own hair out. I have a 1969 El Camino not an SS but it came with an SS hood when I bought it. From day one the hood has been 3/4 to an inch high over the cowl and tapers to flush at the header panel. If I try to raise the fender in the back it won't line up with the door. I know if you put a 1969 hood on a 1968 you have to change the hinges. Is it possible that I have a 1968 hood on my 1969. What am I missing I just cant make it fit correctly.

Loosen one upper hinge bolt on each side and have someone push up on the front of the hood while you tighten them back down.

Repeat same with the two lower bolts if necessary.

Probably just a simple adjustment issue. Try loosening the rearward bolt on the hinge where it meets the inner fender Have a friend lift the hood up until you note the rear of the hinge pivoting downward. After it moves a little, tighten and recheck alignment. I'd bet this will fix it right up.
