Hello all! :D I'm looking @ all the things I want to do to the 68 before summer season. One of them is the rear disc swap. Actually, I plan on going disc all the way around but, 1st things 1st.
Here's where the confusion lies. I have read all the posts I can find but, have not seen my answer! Here's what I have.

68 12 bolt rearend
76-78 Seville backing plates & calipers.
79-81 T/A rotors

I have a rearend I am mocking all this up on @ this time. I have the backing plates installed along w/ the rotors. When I put calipers on I see shock mount clearance probs on right side along w/ cable routing probs w/ my 10" rallys. I then thought about using front caplipers & the rotor
e-brake listed on here. The problem now is what caliper to use?? I have a set of front calipers from donor car from my 12" tall spindles but they are 1/4" narrower then Caddy rears. WTF? They will bolt on just fine but, something is just not right here. I matched up brake pads & that seems fine also. The only thing I can think of is a spacer inbetween backing plate & end of housing to move caliper closer? Anyhow, I could use a little input on this. Also, brake hoses are a concern. Any ideas?

Thanx, John graemlins/beers.gif

PS, I am parting out a 68 hardtop.

82-88 front calipers and pads should fit.

Hello! I wanted to check out your link but it is not working. Can you send me pix to my email? What model were calipers you used from? Thanx, JOHN

John,
Do you have the small or large caliper backing plates?

John, I have read about this problem here. I believe all you need to do to keep the shocks from interfearing is reverse the caliper brackets left to the right right to the left . do an arcive search I;m sure the suject will come up. Hope this info helps Gene........

Hello again, graemlins/waving.gif I have the large backing plates w/ the large calipers. The rear calipers measure 3" from inside to inside where the front calipers I have measure 2 3/4". ?!? I dunno. I will try reversing the backing plates tonight. I look forward to any new ideas. Thanx, JOHN graemlins/thumbsup.gif
