If its not one thing... its another.

So i finally got to Pulling my rear calipers off to paint them. CPP never did and didnt realize it till they turned to rust. They're the Cadillac style rear caliper with the integral E-brake.

Ok so i got them both off and was playing with the E-brake adjuster lever on it. I moved the lever and the pinston extended out... as it should. However when i moved the lever back the pinston stayed out. i even put it in the vice to try to get it to slide back into the caliper. no luck.. even with retard strength.

So in short.. the adjustment lever moves in both directions, but the piston out will only push out. it looks like its about to be pushed out past the seal too.

so why wont the piston retract back??? It used to too when this kit was out of the box a year ago

im about to pull my hair out here and i havnt even had it on the road or put fluid in them yet.

Rick, On most calipers with the integral park brake mechanism you need to rotate the piston as you push it in...so rotate it clockwise as you push, they do make a special tool for this but you can get by without it. Since you said it is new yet it may go back in fairly easy.

These Cadillac calipers don't work so well when trying to turn the piston back in. The easiest and best way is to remove the adjusting lever, then screw the stud INTO the caliper THEN push the piston back into the caliper. You should be able to push the piston with your fingers. Depending on how far out the piston is, you may have to do this a couple of times.
