On the Big Block Chevy is there a truck oil pan and also a car oil pan? I have a 454 with what I believe is a truck oil pan. I am having some clearence issues and wonder if there is a differnt oil pan to make it fit?

I believe there are about three different oil pans,for the old type two piece rear main seal engines. 1 Big cars, Impalas and Caprices, 2 Novas, Camaros and Chevelles, 3 Lt Trucks. I may be wrong about the cars, there may only be one pan for them. Thomas

You are correct that Impalas use a different pan. It hits the crossmember on chevelles.

The big cars use a pan that has three different steps, while the truck and chevelles would use the two step pans. It's an obvious differance but the truck and chevelle pan is close in appearance, not sure how to tell the difference. Maybe someone can shed more light on what fits what.
