I just replaced the rear brake shoes and drum on my 72 chevelle and the right side went just fine, but the left side is where i'm having trouble installing a new brake drum. It just does not seem to want to go on all the way. The adjusting screw is all the way in, the e-brake is loose and everything else is in place. Is there something else that I need to do to get this new drum on?

Measure the inside diameter and make sure it is the right size for your application. Also make sure brake shoes are not hanging on backing plate
