Whats the correct color for the windshield pillar covers in a black on black 70 coupe? Is it satin or gloss? If its gloss what percentage should it be?

Satin to semi gloss range. Definitely not gloss. By 1970 (at least) GM was toning down the gloss levels on all the stuff around the windshields for safety reasons. Less glare, etc from headlights, etc.

Thank Patton, :beers:
Would this same gloss level of paint also be used for the metal filler panels inbetween the rear seat back and rear door panel???

How about the long metal interior trim strip at the base of rear window behind the rear shelf package tray???

I think you would be safe matching the gloss level to the fillers on each side of the rearseat (backrest/vertical part). Those textured metal pieces, from the hundreds I have seen, do seem to have a sheen to them.

As far as matching the metal at the base of the rear window (inside) I am not familiar enough with the Chevelles to know what was used by Chevy back there. Most of my experience is with Olds and Buick A-bodies and Olds, in particular, used a slightly textured finish and at least semiFLAT finish on that piece at the base of the rear window (at least by 1970). YET, the A-pillar metal mouldings are still the satin-to-semigloss look as well as the rear seat metal side filler panels (I have 1970 original finish parts in black). The Buick had the same satin-to-semigloss look on the A pillar metal pieces and rear seat fillers.

I wouldn't go any flatter than a satin black on the A-pillar metal mouldings. Then again a semigloss may be too much gloss if you think of a semigloss as a gloss black with just A LITTLE flattener in it.

A black lacquer sprayed out of a paint gun without any sanding or buffing afterwards is sort of the sheen level I am thinking of.

Here's a cool one. I helped a buddy inspect and load, etc a '70 Stage 1 car a couple years ago. One cool, "nostalgia/day 2" type mod on this original interior car was the owner (probably A LONG time ago) had taken the A pillar metal mouldings off and had them chromed. Nothing else modded on the interior. The chrome, after cleaning, turned out to be VERY NICE. I ended up with those two pieces and they are sort of cool looking when installed. Probably hell on reflecting headlights, glare, etc at night but practicality isn't always all it's put up to be.

Thank you again Patton!!!

That is exactly the help I needed!!!:hurray:

The '70 442 survivor I have has pearl white interior, so I couldn't use it as a guide for the black interior Chevelle.
