Hey Doc, I'll post more pictures in a few, so I'll start with the car.

I found it in the local trader after the '69 I went to look at fell through. The owner continued to drive it after I gave him a deposit and blew the engine up. Well, this guy turns out to be the guy that helps me put the engine and trans back in my Chevelle several months later.

So, after that deal fell through, I decided to get a '71 because that's the year I was born. I called several in the paper and this lady calls me back about this Chevelle. She tells me it's in the body shop in downtown Petersburg VA and they want $2500 for it. I was stationed in VA at the time and it wasn't too far from where I lived in; less than 10 miles in Prince George. I go to the body shop and this is what I see:

But, here's the really cool parts. While I was talking with the Body Shop owner, he told me that whoever buys it, he's going to finish the body work, paint it and put it back together. I asked him what color and he said ZINC YELLOW. Well...I had a '01 Mustang GT at that time and it was Zinc Yellow too. I asked him if he could change the paint color and he said that if I wanted to pay extra for it he would...well, I didn't after a little thought. As we talk, he tells me that all it needs to start the work is a front passenger fender. We talk for a while and I told him that I was going to call the Chevelle owner and come right back in to see him. I called the owner and told him that I would give him $2200 and I would buy the front fender; Ausley's Chevelle $299 at the time. I go back in and tell the B.S. owner that I'm going to buy the Chevelle. He tells me to bring him the fender and they would get started. So, that was on Sept 11 that I agreed to buy the Chevelle. The next day, I meet the owner at the Credit Union and I pay the fees and I'm the proud owner of a 1971 Chevelle. The B.S. owner started the car shortly after I dropped off the fender. After the car was painted, I gave the owner a box of MRE's for putting the stripes on. He allowed me to clean the inside of the engine bay (best I could w/the engine in there) inside (no back seat or any interior other than the dash and two seats that didn't match). I undercoated the interior and cleaned and undercoated the whole under carriage. Once I got it home, turns out the engine was garbage. I put an add on here and Chuck Hanson emailed me and told me to come to TN, he had an engine for me. I drive down, pick it up, spend some time with him and come back home. The engine was taken to a builder outside of Hopewell VA and the '69 owner rebuilt the 400 and fatlip on here gave me a Torque Converter. A few months later, I got some bucket seats from Pep Boys and put them in the car. The back seat, I bought off a member here out of Chicago, sorry, I forget his name. But a fellow TC member, brought it to CHEVELLEABRATION for me...FREE OF CHARGE. I put the tires and wheels that are on the car now, on in October; SAME tires on the Chevelle now. I traded the Rally's on it to a buddy for his Corvair. He put all new brakes and brake lines on for them. Pretty much every gasket, light, bulb, bolt that I could take off (not a frame off), weatherstripping, door lock, trunk lock, steering wheel, radio, speakers, Alternator, Starter, belts and hoses were new. I took the gas tank off, had it dipped and I sanded it down, by hand, which is a pain in the a## and repainted and put back on by me. I learned a lot helping put this car back together.

The car has sense the "original" finish date, I had a new 400 turbo, front disc brakes w/slotted and drilled rotors, all new door panels, headliner and just two years ago, new FlowMasters put in/on. The car has less than 10,000 miles on it since I bought it on Sept 12th, 2001.

Future plans are a Big Block, possible mini-tub (if it needs it) and new windows and body work w/paint. Thinking of painting it Hugger orange w/black stripes. Or, Flat black across the top of the body line and keeping the Zinc Yellow on the bottom. I plan to do all the body work and paint myself on base at the base Body Shop. Well, obvious suspension upgrades if that BB pans out. Other than that...not much for future plans. Well, unless I have to trade it for a Corvette.

1) Pics in my signature and Showroom...

2) 1970 Chevelle Malibu, 427 small block, TH400, Fab 9 rear end. Found it locally, but through TC. I was looking for a nice cruiser to replace my '66 convert I sold... I wanted a nice paint, but mechanicals were un-important (easy for me)... Ended up buying the opposite (most mechanical done, but needed paint)...

3) Adding buckets in the next year or so and finishing up the interior. Some suspension stuff too, but nothing crazy...

4) What history? Its just a modified Malibu... Super clean California body...

5) I have a 1966 Chevelle SS, L78 that needs a restore... I have been trying to buy an old Vette (63-67), but lots of other "Muscle cars" appeal to me... Chevelles are my favorite...

6) "Dream"? Not sure... for "Musclecars", 64/65 GTO, 69 Dodge Charger, 68 Nova... Many other "dream" classics too (61 Pontiac Ventura, 63 LeMans, Corvettes, 67/68 Fastback Mustang),

2.Bought my 65 Camino Aug 2001. I was in the navy reserves when 911 happened, I was sent away for a year. Since I have been back the last six year I have fix some rust, rewired, posi 3:73, 700r4 tranny, new carpet and bucket seats. I'm currently working on a new motor, turbo and fuel system.
3. My plans are to build a good street/strip Camino
4.I don't know much of the history on the Camino. I did buy it from a guy from Arizona.
5. My next muscle maybe a 71 Chevelle.

Pictures in my signature,and showroom. Fell in love with the 70 SS as soon as I saw one in the showroom of the local Chevy dealer in September 1969. After the love affair with Corvettes was over, and the last check was written to the University my daughter was attending I started my search. Forest Green with white stripes was the only color I wanted,but on the morning of my birthday October 6 2007 the Black Car and I met. After 3 weeks of back and forth with the owner,my daughter and I were on a road trip ,trailer in tow to bring our new car home! That trip was probably one of the best father daughter adventures we have had together which was an added bonus.

Well I'll give you the story of my cars one by one.

--My current 1971 Chevelle--

Well I started working for a company that does a lot with cars. I had a 1998 Z28 Camaro at the time along with my 1999 SS Camaro and my 67 RS. I had a Chevelle in high school which wasnt that long ago I graduated in 2006. I traded it for my 67 RS. Well as time went on I had to park my 67 because I got horrible gas mileage and i was fixing to have a kid and just couldnt afford the gas.

I personally dont like knew cars. Dont get me wrong I love my SS but i would rather be in an old car any day. Even if im not from that generation. Anywayz the 1998 Camaro served its purpose but I just wasnt satisfied.

My boss at the time had a 1963 Corvette. I really dont care much for vettes but it was a cool car and needed alot of work. I traded him and came out way ahead. About 5K ahead. He has money so he didnt care. He wanted my Z28 bad. So I traded. After realizing how muc work needed to be done I put it on Ebay for sale and a guy with a 1971 Pontiac Lemans wrote me on ebay and wanted to trade.

The car had 63,000 original miles with documentation. Also had a 1970 Ram Air 4 Motor. I drove to Atlanta and met him and he drove from Kentucky and we traded. I drove back the same day and what a trip Never again in one day:sad:. I had the car about two weeks and was sick of the gas mileage. It had 450HP and 550 Ft LBs Torque and it sucked gas. So i was back in the same leaky boat.

Two weeks goes by and I start looking for something else. Of course the Chevelle was the first thing I looked at. I started e-mailing everyone I could and offering the Trade. Sure enough that night a guy called and said let's do a trade.:D

I met him about an hour away from my house. He looked at mine and I looked at his. We traded on the spot. He was a nice older man in his 60's or 70's and we keep in touch about once a week. He was very nice to deal with and he told me the same. I told him everything that was wrong with the car from the spot and even told him the motor started knocking on the way to see him. He appreciated the honesty and i the same:thumbsup: Now im doing work.:D

2. I found the car on Autotrader in Southern California about a year ago. I needed to replace the '55 Chevy 2-dr post that I sold a few months earlier. (pic below)

I spoke with the owner a few times and looked at a few pictures and decided that I wanted it. I paid too much, but I wanted it. It took two and a half weeks in transport for the car to arrive in front of my house (pic below)

I drove it around for a month or two and decided that I needed more power so I built a motor. I got my hands on a 400sbc and had it machined and cleaned up. I stuck some .030 over Ross flat tops in, along with a cast Scat crank and forged Scat rods. I run a Lunati solid flat tappet cam and lifters topped off by a pair of Dart Iron Eagle 215's and a Weiand intake. Im going to be replacing my carb with a Holley 9381. Other than that, I have a set of Dougs coated longtube headers and a set of Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers. The trans is just a fresh TH350 with a Transpak and a Holeshot 3000 converter. I also run 3.55's out back, they arent ideal for what I have but they were in there when I bought the car. (pic below)

As the picture at the top shows there has been a mad rush of bodywork going on for a few months now. That stemmed from an accident that happened on a Sunday afternoon cruise with a couple friends of mine back in January. That in itself is a long story, but to cut it short lets just say that the other driver was only 16 and is to say the least, an idiot. She admitted to the officer that she had done wrong and was issued a ticket for the accident. After 2 months of fighting with her insurance company (Allstate=THIEVES) I was awarded enough money to purchase all the sheetmetal that the car needed before and after the accident. So into the bodyshop she went. Thats pretty much everything I have done up until now with the car. Im no good at carb setup or tuning so when the new carb arrives that will probably be a whole new chapter in the cars life.

3. My plans for the car are to narrow the factory frame by about 4" and cage the car to be legal and safe for mid 9's. I would like to build either a single turbo 406sbc or an N/A 540+ci BBC sometime next year to get enough power to run that magic 9.xxx . I plan to stuff some 325 or 315 drag radials under the car and have at it. Most of the existing drivetrain is going to be transplanted into my Dads '70 Chevelle(pic below). Those are the plans as of now, but knowing me, they will probably be changed in a month...

4. This one is easy because honestly I really dont remember much of what I found out about the car from the cowl tag and VIN number. I can tell you that the car was originally equipped with a 6cyl and a powerglide. It was also originally blue with blue interior.

5&6. My next project will probably be another '55. I didnt want to get rid if of the one I had, but the skill level necessary to bring that car just back to "driver" condition was way beyond what I am capable of. So I would like to get another one. My dream muscle car is kind of difficult to nail down. If I had to name just one I would have to say a '69 Hemi Cuda 4-speed, Plum crazy purple with black interior. I know its a little cliche, but I just love that car.

I have always been a 'Big Car' guy.
As early as the 3rd grade (as I recall) the 59 Chevy has had my attention.
When I started mowing lawns at about 12yo, a neighbor of one of my 'clients' had a red&white 59 Elky. I have wanted one ever since.
Well, in the early 90s, I started looking for one---diligently, and took 7yrs to find one that I was willing to tackle and could afford.
I bought this car on my 41st birthday, and finally registered it on my 46th birthday.
Okay---not a Chevelle, but, everyone and their brother has a Chevelle (my brother does:D).

After the horrors of the "SFB" (sheetferbrains) body shop, I found a couple of old guys to take over and this is what we ended up with.

This car is equipped with: 454HO, Tremec TKO, hyd. clutch, 4 wheel power discs, AC, PW, PS, Tilt, 25 gallon Bronco fuel tank (16 gallons not nearly enough), custom colored door panels in a 59 Impala pattern.

A full year before the 59 was registered----my "BETTER HALF" allowed me to buy another car to play with. A car that I was familiar with from a couple of visits to Idaho.

The story of my chevelle......In 1994, when I was just 22 years old, my husband bought me my first chevelle. It was a 1969 malibu. It was by far the coolest car I had ever owned and I loved it. One day I came home and it was gone. My husbands cousin had mentioned to him that he like the car and wanted to buy it, so without even asking me he sold it to him because he had found a 68 camaro he wanted to buy and needed the money for that. Needless to say I was not happy about this! After some very heated arguements my husband promised that he would find me another chevelle and that I could put it in my name only this time so he would not be able to ever sell it on me.
A few months later we had taken the camaro to a freind of ours to have it painted. While there we noticed he had a 71 chevelle tucked away in the corner of one of his his garages. We asked him if he was interested in selling it. "Not really" was his reply so we asked if we could just check it out. He said sure. The color was not my favorite(it was lime green metallic) but it was in remarkable condition. All original, yes, I mean a true survivor in every way and was near perfect. I asked him the story on it and he told me he had bought it from the second owner whom was a friend of his and his friend had bought it from the estate sale of the original owner. It had always been garage kept and driven rarely. It even still had the protect o plate in the glove box, and believe it or not was sold new at a dealership that is still in business and that my mother in law works at now. Well before we left I told him if he ever change his mind about selling it to please let me be the first to know. A few months had passed and one day out of the blue he called. He decided that he really didn't need it and it was just taking up space so he shot us a price and a hour later we were there with the cash in hand and drove it home. This was on April, 4 1996. I drove it for about a year only making a few minor changes like new wheels and tires and duel exhaust. I really wanted to change the color though so I made up my mind that I wanted it to be black with white racing stripes but they would not look right on my flat hood so I was also going to have to change that. I called up the man I bought it from. He has been doing body and paint work for more then 30 years so I asked him if he would paint it for me. He had done my husbands camaro the year before and it turned out real nice so I trusted him. I took it to him and a couple weeks later I got my baby back and she was beautiful. It is now 13 years later and she still looks and runs like a dream.
My plans for the car are to just keep it and enjoy it forever. As far as what my next old car will be, well I'm not sure about that but I do know it won't be in place of the one I have but added to our collection. My dream car? I have so many so I won't even go there but for now in my eyes I already own my dream car, at least the best one I can afford.

My Chevelle story start's in December of 66, My mother in law went to the local Dealership to check out the new 67 Camaro she spotted the Chevelle on the showroom floor ,she fell in love with the car and struck the deal, She drove the car right up until 74 when the transmission puked, my father in law pushed it into the garage removed the 283 and swaped a 307 from his wrecked 72 Camaro and never completed the job. Sadly 11 years ago my father in law passed away at that time mom gave me the car, two years ago I finally brought it home and started to tear it down, new big block suspension, bushings ect, originally I had planned on a 700r4 but a sweet 67 M-20 came along so now it's four speed:D as for the engine I built from scratch a GMPP Gen VI 454 through the dealership I used to work for and the coolest thing was oil priming the engine ,installing the distributor and having mom turn the key and start the new engine for the 1st time! A very happy day for all I just wish my father in law were here to see it, future plans, the car will have a stock ss396 hood and chrome and painted with the original color Capri Cream and Black top, there are no plans on ever selling the car it's my hot rod so original is not a priority here, I have no plans on getting another project after it's completed I'm restoring two other muscle car's which are factory correct to the nut and bolt (which was driving me nut's!)a few photo's, 1st: car as it sat in the garage for 34 years, 2nd today

Well, About 5 or 6 years ago I started looking for a 66/67 Chevelle. Couldn't find anything in my price range- 5K (suprise) Looked everywhere, Traders, Oldcars.com, Autotrader,com - finally found my car on some classic car trader site - 70 Chevelle, 350/350, 12 Bolt 3:31 Posi, Tilt wheel and 20 foot paint (ugly orange color) Didn't run really great but it was a start, The kid that had it was in college and didn't have time for it anymore. They had rebuilt the front end and the brakes (front disc) Even had the CI flapper installed the wrong way and non functional & propped open. Trans was fresh.
They wanted $6,500 for it and I offered $5,500 and the jumped on it (should have went for 5k :D )

Finally got it running OK with a new carb but the thing had some radical cam in it and wouldn't make any power till 3,500 and then it would shift. LOL

I drove it a couple years like that and then backed into a tree (don't ask) wiped out the RH 1/4, Trunk lid, bumper and a few other odds & ends. I went to see my body guy and I told him I would do the metal work and he said he would need to blend into the opposite 1/4 and the RH door. I then asked about taking the vinyl top off & painting that, He said OK then I asked about swapping the LH door out for a nice one I had and then he said, Just paint the damn thing the color you want it - White. :D

Replaced both 1/4's, outer wheel houses, LH door, Deck lid, Removed VT, Fixed the CI to function, Added the SS emblems and the stripes. All new interior (had 70's Camaro buckets), new 406 Small block, Bumper guards, SS park lights, stero, Wheels, Tires, Ect.

Here are some before & after. I love my 70 but would trade in a heartbeat for a 66/67 - Any takers?

The other car I would like to own is a 62-66 Lincoln Continental 4 door :thumbsup:

4. Along the way someone decided to cut some holes behind the rear seat to fit 12" subwoofers. No #'s match anywhere on the car, but was a sunflower yellow Malibu with 722 - Antique Dark Saddle Elk Coated Fabric buckets, 350 and A/C from the factory.
5. Next car will probably be a first gen camaro with an LSX motor for the wife.
6 Dream car.... either a 64 or 66 Prostreet chevelle

2.) Not much of a story, but I picked it up from the 2nd owner who owned it for over 20 years. Numbers matching except for the intake, carb and headers.
3.) I don't want to dump a ton of money into it. I just to correct the engine compartment, already corrected the interior, completely redo the exhaust (in process), maybe detail it underneath and just drive it.
4.) Does a build sheet count?
5.) I'd like to have a '66-'67 Lincoln Town car or maybe a '62 Biscayne or Impala.
6.) '69-'70 Chevelles and a Porsche 911 Turbo.

After building and fixing (yes Fix Or Repair Daily has a basis in fact) I ended up trading it straight across for a '77 Monte just to get back and forth to my new job.

Next, I got into Road Racing and raced a dual purpose VW Rabbit http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2466126for a couple of years.

I ended up with this '67 Elky http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2466107 which I built and used to tow the Rabbit to the track the second year.
After getting out of road racing I sold both cars bought a new Toyota 4x4 and a boat and got out of cars, with the exception on a couple of 4x4's.

17 years and two kids and a divorce later... my then 11 year old son started getting into the "Fast and Furious" movies and pointing out every Honda with a body kit.
I knew I had a responsibility to act quickly.:cool:

I always liked the early Chevy II's so I started looking for a '63-64 project car.
I imposed a restriction upon myself that what ever I bought had to run and drive, and cost under $1000. After searching and realizing that I wasn't going to find what I wanted for the meager funds I had available, I started expanding my search to include Chevelles (Elky's were out because I needed a back seat for the family).

One Sunday I saw an ad on Craigslist for a '66 Buick Special with a Chevy 350 already swapped in for $750. I knew what a '64 Special looked like because a former girlfriends mom had one that I really liked. I did a quick Google search and was happy to see that the '66 looked a lot like a Chevelle.:thumbsup:

I quickly emailed the seller and arranged to see it during my lunch hour the next day. The owner said the car had been left in his garage 2 years earlier by his brother who had lost interest and told him to get what he could for it.
After a test drive and a few minutes of inspection I offered him $700, gave him $100 deposit, and came back that night with my wife...
and to her dismay... drove it home.:cool:

For many years I lusted for a '67 427 Cobra, but I've kinda lost interest in them lately... My youngest (11) wants a '67 Corvette, black with a stinger hood and a red hood stripe... (he hasn't specified the running gear) so, I guess if we throw a 427 and a 4speed in that, it'd come as close as anything to my "dream car"
