I have a 68 Chevelle with maual steering and was
wanting to change over to power steering, will
all of the pumps, box and lines from 68-72 bolt
onto my car without any problems. If I'm unable to locate parts from a Chevelle will parts from GTO,Lemans,Cutlass etc. work for me, also if any of you guys have any info for these parts at a reasonable price that would be great
Thanks

What a great web site..

steering box from any 68-72 A body will work, including the pitman arm. Pump, hoses, and brackets/pullies will have to be off a 68 or older chevy SB with the short water pump, that is if your car is original. Chevy went to a long water pump setup in 69 and the pump, brackets, and pullies all changed. It may be possible to put a 69 up pump on 68 and older brackets but I havent tried it myself so I am not sure if that would work. Do you have the short or long water pump setup? What side of engine compartment is the alternator on?

my car doesnt have original eng. has a 350 unsure of year, the alternator is on the left of engine. Forgive my ignorance but how do you tell if thw water pump is long or short ? The pullies
are already on balancer and water pump.

Thanks

How much do you want for the manual box ?

I was thinking about removing my power steering, for the free horsepower.
Of course, that might be one of those things, I think about but never do also.
