: Option price list for 1965? - How much extra was the 230 L6 engine?
highlandlake Aug 29th, 09, 11:14 PM OK, I've been searching here for 20 minutes...no luck. I've seen the price list on here before - somewhere.
I recall that the additional cost to order the 230 L6 engine in a Super Sport was less than $20. My literature doesn't have the prices, it just has what stuff you can order in that model year.
All jokes about the sixes aside, can someone lead me to the 1965 option price list for engines?
In comparison, wasn't the Z-16 package about $1,500 extra?
Thanks for any help.
After I get an answer, feel free to open up the floodgate about the six cylinder SS comments & jokes. I love to read them. :)

novaderrik Aug 29th, 09, 11:16 PM wasn't that the base engine, with every other engine being an extra cost option on top of that?
furball8994 Aug 29th, 09, 11:27 PM The L26,140hp Turbo-Thrift engine was $26.90. The Z15 option was $1,501.05.
Here's a full list of 65 options.

Ha!
Just what I was looking for! Thanks Furball.
'Special Suspension' was less than $5! You can't hardly buy a castle nut for that today.
OK, let the (whopping 140 horsepower) comments fly!
My favorite one to use when describing my car is that it can only leave rubber behind if the spare tire falls out of the trunk. But it can pass a gas station real well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the base engine for a SS was the 283 CID. The 230, the multiple 327's and of course the 396 was extra cost.
The other models called the 194 CID engine 'base'.

Lionel-n-Chevelles Aug 30th, 09, 1:18 AM In 1964 and 1965, you could have purchased 6 Cylinder Super Sports.
The first 3 Numbers of the VIN for 6 Cylinder Super Sports were 457 in 1964 and 137 in 1965. The first 3 Numbers of the VIN for 8 Cylinder Super Sports were 458 in 1964 and 138 in 1965.

Yep, at the dragstrip you can mail me a postcard from the 1/2 mile marker. I'll get it and be able to read it as I'm passing the 1/4 mile point.

Steve O.Read it again, Steve. If you mail a postcard from the 1/2 mile mark, he'll get it at the 1/4 mile mark; IOW, he can accelerate to 1/4 mile from one end in the same time it takes USPS mail to get 1/4 mile from the other. I can only wonder where a 1/2 mile mark might be at a dragstrip, but I get his point. ;)
