Ok, before I begin I know this topic has received a myriad of posts in the past and I have gone through all of them, but I really haven't gotten to pictures or answers I was looking for.

Question: I own a 69 chevelle SS396 Convertible Azure turquoise, bucket seats, m-20 350 hp car. I know that markings varied by assembly plant, and I have heard all about how the Atlanta plant used the firewalls like a children's coloring book, but I haven't heard much about the Baltimore plant. I was wondering if anyone knew of some characteristics that were specific to Baltimore or convertibles for that matter. I want to create firewall markings because I have always appreciated them and would like to include them in my car even though I am nowhere near a gold spinner. I have seen some pics on here in other posts that are pre-restoration, I was wondering if anyone had pics of the final product with the markings? I'm just unsure of placement and overall look. I think its one of those things that if you think to much about it, it turns out crappy and the ones that are just done as second nature seem to always look the best (imo). I thought of including the color (55) or the last few digits of the vin# 317***, or the m-20, but I'm just not sure what looks correct, this is one of those things where you want it to turn out just like all the rest. So I guess I would like to see what others have done.

Finally I know this can be a hot button issue to some people on whether to add them or not add them, but to be honest I am looking for help on how to do it, not on whether I should or not, or if its 100% correct. I'm creating the car the way I see fit, because I'm the one swiping the debit card. I'm not trying to be rude and I know everyone is entitled to opinions, but in looking at all the other posts on the subject it seems that the topic drifts quickly from the initial query and then the question never really gets answered.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian, you're right on the hot issue. To each his own on the markings. Not sure on the size/font/option codes used but 1 thing I'd do for sure is scribble them on the bare firewall and then paint thinned single stage over them. They probably didn't bleed through right away per the factory process, but rather shortly thereafter. I see way too many installed over a painted firewall and far too defined.

I've had two low mile Baltimore 68's and the only thing on the firewall was an OK between the master cylinder and wiper motor.
