I was adjusting the top bushing (near the upper a-arm) on my front coil over shock and I noticed that the shock is doing nothing. With the top bushing out I could grab hold of the shock mounting rod and with no effort move the shock rod up and down. Regardless of where the 12 position adjuster was set, it had no effect on the shock. I mean there's no resistance at all - none. They've only got about 1500 miles on them, so this isn't what I was expecting. Has anyone ever rebuilt an adjustable HAL shock?

I'd contact them first
Looks like you'll need a spanner wrench for the top nut.

I did contact them, the warranty period is a year. If I drove the car daily I might have discovered it within the 1st year. The QA1 tech guy wasn't much help, he suggested that I send them off for rebuilding - that's about it. Before I pay some to take it apart, I figure I can do that. I think the oil has leaked out of the shock. As you said I'll need to find a spanner wrench to get it apart. It'll be a few weeks before I can get to it, I guess I'll just see what happens when I get it apart.
